It depends more on how much gameplay time you want out of the game. If you buy a new game every weekend, replaying sections between save points to conserve more health and ammo might seem tedious.

kind of goes for original's max difficulty too since it just becomes overly long fights where you're never in any danger but the enemy takes like 2000 hits so you just hit them with the great knife 4 times while hooked up to the ampoule IV which is also boring

I play just about everything on lower difficulty nowadays if there's an option. If there's not I still can beat it no problem. I'm old in my mid 40s and I barely have enough time to game anymore. Wasting the few hours a week at trying to git gud on armored core 6 just isn't worth it anymore. I play to relax and zone out. I have a family and it takes a lot of my time and I hate drugs and alcohol so I need something that makes me zone out. I used to be good at games and could do shit like beating contra without dying. I probably could still do that if I applied myself but at this age I don't care anymore.

Also, getting old is actually cool and I fucking hated my 20s and early 30s but life really does get better. That's my only advice or whatever. Good luck out there

Yeah I wouldn't have believed it either. I fucking hated my 20s even though I spent them partying in grad school and fucking girls. I never really felt comfortable with who I was and wasn't all that appreciative. I was pretty depressed and shit like that for a long time and I stopped having confidence. But that all changed as I got older. Zero depression and confident and happy as can be. It really does get better

True, but SH2 DEmake is a literal "Silent Souls" style hack and slash game. You are constantly fighting shit, you cannot avoid it.

In case of the originals, survival horror is all about the risk of fucking up and losing a lot of progress, so reasonable difficulty is recommended.

I've played the original SH2 on normal and I didn't feel like I had to hoard ammo or health at all. Nothing like an RE game but that's fine, Fatal Frame 2 is my favorite game in the series even if it's one of the easiest games in the lineup.

Well duh, SH2 has ALWAYS been considered to be the least scary, least difficult game in the OG series. It is the sole reason why it was seen as a sort-of "black sheep" in the original trilogy, no matter that people still love it for all the OTHER reasons out there.

If you want actual survival horror vibes, SH1 has you covered. 3 and 4 crank it up to 11, but are a bit too cramped and linear for my taste overall.

I don't feel like I had much difficulty with SH1 either especially after getting the hammer. Helps that SH1-3 have an unlimited inventory so you don't have to pick and choose the items to carry.

Look, I have similar settis to you, but I never got that argument "I have little time so I play easy games". What wastes my time more, a moviegame where I have to play at least 45 minutes in one sitting because I have to walk slowly and listen to exposition dumps between braindead gameplay or something like Hotline Miami or Commandos or Faster Than Light that has demanding gameplay and actually warrants you gitting gud, but allows you to save anytime (or at least make single levels short enough that it doesn't matter) so you can jump in, do something, and jump out again at your own pace?

And why do I need to consoom in the first place? I remember a time when I got a new game for my brithday and christmas, which both are roughly half a year apart, so I had to make do with one game for half a year, and I still don't mind. So I am playing a game for several weeks, big deal. There's barely anything new coming out that is worth even a minute of my time anyway.
