Nintendo is doing just fine overall, but they definitely have a "hardware problem" and I think they know that, which is why the Switch 2 was just an iterative upgrade for the original Switch. Their strategy of releasing underpowered hardware is turning away 3rd parties because they have to make concessions to get their games to run on Switch hardware, which means that nobody who owns an Xbox, Playstation, or PC is going to buy the Switch version of a multi-platform game because everyone knows by now that the Switch version is objectively the worst. As a result, you have a bunch of people who buy Nintendo consoles as a secondary machine just to play first party Nintendo titles, and then they play everything else on their Xbox, Playstation, or PC. It's not sustainable, especially given Nintendo's slow output of first party titles. They either need to beef up their consoles or get out of the hardware business altogether

I’m not going to be a snob and shit on a low wattage handheld screen’s performance by comparing it to my gaming monitor, but it really isn’t. Gamers spend a lot of money on hardware, but in this case entry level $200 ips and va panels are twice as fast g2g. The Switch 2 will be an interesting device to dick around with if it is ever exploited. The screen is likely capable of overdrive and it would be a feature worth enabling while plugged in.

I’ve tested several 2D games including sonic. I see no ghosting. I’ve tried my hardest to spot any obvious ghosting. It’s a non issue. Only spergs still butthurt that the switch 2 sales in 4 days beat the steam deck lifetime sales will notice. John Linneman needs to slow shit down to even notice. If anything, maybe it’s visible to see some ghosting while you scroll through your game list.

I learned about response times the hard way when I had a CHG70. When playing at 60 FPS I'd get brutal ghosting, and even at 144Hz it would be mediocre in dark scenes (a problem with VA displays). So no, this is not some new thing; poor response times can buttfuck your motion clarity.

You do not know what the fuck you are talking about whatsoever. OLED may have a lot of issues (such as burn in), but ghosting is NOT among them. Pixel response time is the best of any display technology yet, and is the reason why you can easily hit 240hz or even 480hz on a display (and you could probably go higher if not for HDMI/DP bandwidth limitations).

LCD's look alright with some form of ULMB technology. Something OLED's haven't been able to get right since BFI just doesn't reduce blur to any acceptable level, LG's OLED motion pro is very average (as are many other solutions) and i don't think it looks as smooth as basic backlight strobing. The best solution for OLED's going forward is to do some form of CRT beam simulation built into the screen at internal software level. Nvidia's gsync pulsar module is yet to materialize in a substantial way but that will also potentially bring back some interest i have in LCDs. If not just for gaining back some basic form of motion clarity in the modern age.

Pixel response times will generally always favor the OLED. Yet there is flaws with both technologies regardless. This is kind of off topic from the screen used in the switch. I just wanted an excuse to rant.

I'd be reeeeally careful about any kind of claim with Japanese & East-Asian games if I were you. This isn't the 2015 back when these third-parties could easily retreat on Playstation as a relevant platform for their home market.

The level of resistance tells the potentiometer where the stick position is. This material wears out over time. You cannot "fix" a drifting potentiometer by spraying contact cleaner in it, the resistive material is fucking GONE. Dust is not the problem and never was. The problem is that the potentiometer literally mechanically wears out over time and nothing can stop that process.
