let me ask you this. what is "depth"? depth is when if someone asks you what to do in a situation, the answer is "well, it depends". when the combination of inputs and consequences is complex enough that you can only really give someone a general strategy to deal with a problem, then that is depth. now, what is a parry? a parry, in most games, is a mechanic that serves as the answer to EVERYTHING, and this is especially true in expedition 33. no matter what question you ask, the quickest, most precise and most effective answer is: parry it. press the singular button at the correct time. and no matter the timing associated with that action, it will always be a shallow interaction. and most games adopt this style of parry nowadays.
