Chapter 6 is my favourite.
Genuinely kino, start to finish. I love everything about it. I love the focus on Rena. I love the starting water pistol battle and the final battle on the roof mirroring each other. I love how Keiichi memoryscrapes previous fragments and actually finds a way to reverse Hinamizawa Syndrome levels just by using talking therapy (makes you wonder about the true nature of it as a medical phenomenon), what a fucking chad. I love that it's framed as an exchange of love between the two of them. I love that the ending is still not good enough for Rika and she chooses to roll again. I love multiple perspectives, this chapter goes between several characters.

In my opinion it's meant to represent her trying and failing to escape a cycle of abuse with her friends and not succeeding. Onikakushi is also good largely cause it's hard to tell whether Keiichi is right about the town or if he's just going completely insane and if the latter why it's happening. Watanagashi Keiichi is no longer the center of the madness but rather just observing it and not very well either. The anime flat out cuts some scenes out or contextualizes them in a way that doesn't make sense. The example I always think of is the anime has Satoko losing her shit when Keiichi pats her during Tatarigoroshi while imagining her older brother. This doesn't really make much sense while in the VN it's because she's imagining Teppei touching her who had beat her the night before and she's utterly terrified. The entire ending segment of Tatarigoroshi is mostly cut out in the anime which was meant to be a final punch in the gut in an already depressing chapter. The ending of Meakashi is shortened and completely loses it's impact as well.
