Not him but ever since Kumazaki took the helm everyone just kinda became a lore autist for the series with all the references to past games and vague implications for events in the series. Even without them side games like Dream Buffet and what not still reference stuff through customization or some other easter egg. Sakurai's not really the type to do that, not even in his own games. The original Air Ride for example at most took songs and some enemies over from some past games but you can see things like locations and plenty of songs are completely original to it.
People are just accustomed to Kirby games usually acknowledging its world even if it may not actually/currently matter to whatever's happening. Sakurai isn't particularly known to work that way and Smash Bros is generally the example used to claim he hates any Kirby stuff that he didn't have a hand in. I guess people are just kinda afraid of not having a playable Susie or something.
Some people have pointed out Green Kirby's feet became orange again when they were turned into a darker green in games after Sakurai's leave, so i guess take that small detail if you will? But like, we haven't even seen any actual gameplay yet so at the moment it's really just fearmongering
