Main thing is that I removed nearly every 3rd party, only ones I felt were worth keeping were either related enough to Nintendo, such as Simon and Mega Man, or iconic enough in their own right to stay, such as Sonic and Pac-Man. Banjo and Sora are exceptions to these rules because I hate them and think their inclusion in Smash was a mistake.

When it comes to FE, the obvious one to remove is Roy, and thus his Echo Chrom.
That cuts FE down from 8 to 6, and I can see all of the rest stay.
Marth is guaranteed, and is the precise swordsman.
Lucina is a glorified costume yet gets to stay because popularity(easily one of the top in popularity especially in Japan). Even when cutting the cast down, she's not going to go away because she's such an easy inclusion. Offers easier play version of Marth.
Corrin does manakete and lance lunges.
Robin is the mage(somewhat).
Byleth is weapon triangle.
Ike stays because of popularity, even though his heavy swordsman role that got him in to begin with has been filled up by others now.

For real though who are they going to add in the next game for the Mario series though? Waluigi is a meme that nobody actually cares about beyond him not being in Smash. Toad just doesn't really have any excitement on his own and Captain Toad can't jump. Anyone that expects Geno is a retard, especially if we're getting cuts. I guess they could do Pauline, but I have no idea what a full moveset for her would look like, and even with Bananza I think she's more suited as an assist trophy. Paper Mario has an arsenal of attacks he could use and with the RPGs getting more gams in recent years, I think he has a decent chance at making it. Especially after they remastered TTYD.

Got news for you no one cares about Pokemons in Smash unless they serve a major purpose in the history of the franchise like being a mascot like Pikachu or Eevee. And if not that they have to be especially stand out like Mewtwo who was the villain of the first Pokemon Theatrical Movie as well as part of the iconic first game's most powerful legendary Pokemon. And it helps Mewtwo that he's one of the few Pokemon in the franchise who has a personality of his own which makes him unique since he can speak like a human.
