The screen has marginally faster pixel response times than the PSP1000, which was so ghosty that games used a trick where they would move the camera back and forth by one pixel to simulate anti-aliasing.

You're not a reliable source as you would excuse 30fps as "just fine". You aren't aware of what the discussion is about. You aren't aware of what the feel of a modern system is. You are the poster child of a peon who walked into a room and began trying to argue with people over a topic he couldn't even fathom.

You've already demonstrated you don't even understand the topic, so nothing you say has any relevance—taking tech talking points from a guy who replies to discussions about slow draw times with "I have 60fps though" is the last thing anyone would do. Your continued involvement makes you a laughing stock.

That's analogue tier of response, it's extremely fucking fast. To put into perspective:

The SNES has 50ms of delay.

The PS5 controller has a response of 80-120ms

Why are they trying to grift the switch 2 like this? Maybe Jeremy Laird from PCGamer is under someone's pocket? seems likely since most review sites are going under. Hey buy an ad

Look, I know some anons are whining about the Switch 2’s LCD refresh rate being a bit on the slow side, but come on, it’s a handheld console, not a PC gaming rig. The colors are vibrant, battery life is solid, and the screen’s perfect for chilling with Mario or Zelda on the go.

Plus, that LCD tech keeps costs down, meaning more games and accessories instead of overpriced specs. Who needs 120Hz when you’re couch co-oping with friends or flying through Hyrule? Sometimes slow and steady wins the race, and let’s be honest, that buttery Nintendo gameplay smooths over a lot.

So yeah, the screen isn’t a speed demon, but it’s exactly what the Switch 2 needs to keep delivering those classic Nintendo vibes. Just sayin’.

easiest way to think about it is that the numbers are worst out of any screen made for gamers in decades and that it should be technically easy to fix it via overdrive, and nintendo is being very odd releasing this product as is

Yes many joes will go onto claim the display is best and works fine and so on, but those same people would feel the benefit if nintendo wasnt being a freak about it.

Nah, I think you’re blowing it way out of proportion. It's a handheld Nintendo console, not an esports monitor. The Switch 2 isn't trying to compete with 240Hz OLEDs, it's trying to deliver solid gameplay, battery life, and affordability in a hybrid system.

Yeah, the screen might not be cutting-edge, but it's far from “worst in decades.” People said the same thing about the OG Switch and guess what? It sold like crack at a middle school. Most players aren’t gonna notice or care — they just want to play Mario and Pokémon without it looking like a flip phone.

Nintendo knows their audience, and frankly, the “overdrive” fix crowd is acting like they’re buying a $2K rig instead of a toy for playing Zelda on the bus.

Touch grass.

pixel response wise it is.

The normal ips today would be <10 ms using conservative overdrive, not 33 of switch 2. It causes a lot of ghost images as the screen tries to change at 60hz but the pixels are only fast enough for 30hz.
Switch 1 was 20 ish ms and wasn't great experience to begin with.

No one bought it because everyone and their grandma owned a switch already. It also released the year after Covid when the free government bucks ended and people were forced back to work.
An oled switch 2 will do about the same in sales, but it costs Nintendo nothing to produce these things well after the fact in small quantities to get a boost in switch 2 sales in a few years. Their goal isn’t to sell tens of millions with oled versions, anon. Stop coping and admit people do care about oled and the switch 2 should have launched with it but Nintendo faggots will eat whatever shit they’re served.

That's where your wrong. OLED matters, it matters a lot actually. It's the entire reason Nintendo will be releasing a Switch 2 OLED as mid-gen refresh. Nintendo knows that a good amount of people will double dip and buy the OLED once it's available and there surely some people waiting for an OLED model to buy a Switch 2.

Basically Sony's OS, yeah. The reason Bloodborne runs at infamously bad framepacing was not to use PS4's built in 30 fps cap, since it significantly increases input lag.

If you have hacked PS4, there's a patch for Bloodborne to use syscall that forces 30 fps cap on game, which actually makes it look smooth to play (for 30 fps) but the input lag is too much.

Yeah, it's one thing to say "that's true but it doesn't really bother me" but defending the choice to use that bottom of the barrel screen, espcially after they specifically marketed Switch 2 as having peak turbo fast peak lcd with vrr, hdr and other buzzwords, is just sad.
Don't have S2 since I don't care about mario kart that much, I'll just wait for the inevitable OLED at this point.

I honestly cannot trust youtube videos when it comes to hardware anymore. The fact that every channel doing this shit relies so heavily on view count really makes me wonder if it's all just bait.
If it IS an issue, that's fine, but these channels know that fanboys will click on every video to try and denounce what they're saying, so it's easy to get those views.
I would need to test one in real life to see before i believe any of these D and C tier channels.

Something that the Switch 2 display doesn't support. And in your screenshot, the OLED is set to Standard mode, but the Switch 2 screen is permanently set to the equivalent of the Vivid mode setting of the OLED Switch. You have to set the OLED to Vivid mode and then compare.

Actual schzio gibberish. Switch 2's screen supports HDR10 and there is no such fucking thing as a "Vivid" option for OLED Switch.

One of these is pure, the other one has about 2 frames of motion blur applied (with a decay of 0.67 to bias it towards the fresher frame). I think this is a suitable demonstration of pixel ghosting.
Whether or not this is a nothing burger or if it's the end of the world is ultimately up to you to decide.

most times when companies gives "hands on" experience to people it's usually the prototype deluxe model they show to everyone, not the model they will ship to store shelves. what they showed to journos back then was probably the oled version and tricked everyone

Only if I put it side by side with the OLED I see a difference in colour depth and if response time is worse I've yet to notice it.

This clickbait is literally an indication that the Switch 2 is
1) on everyone's mind
2) a greatly desired consumer electronic
3) going to succeed
it's literally kvetching over the negatives of a console basically everyone likes but nobody wants to admit publicly because shitting on the family friendly, overly litigious megacorp is more fashionable than admitting that while you think it's fucked up, you don't give enough of a shit to really boycott it.
It happens all the time in gacha. ZZZ was doomposted to hell and rose out of the ashes in cultural relevance and raw numbers despite being the least accessible of the popular ones. People bitch LOUDLY about stuff they like

I have a Switch 2, and you definitely notice it for 2D games. It's literally about 1 frame of ghosting, and it's consistent.
It's bad but nothing a firmware update can't fix. It's also the type of thing you forget about after 5 minutes of getting used to it.

The average player have their shit hooked up to a dogshit TV or monitor with post-processing crap that's doing worse things to image quality (plus input lag). I don't really think most people will care about the screen outside of some youtubers farming clicks.
