Yeah it's intro and the game knows this so does the player, it's not trying to trick you into thinking it's something it's not.
In fact I've seen plenty of people complain about HL1 and 2 having to long of an intro on replays.

It actually is through. The exploration is great in DS, it's everything else about the game that sucks. It's one of the few games that understand that the moment to moment gameplay of just moving from point A to B should be fun.

this is my problem with the game. They introduce traversal mechanics that could be interesting and challenging, and then just as quickly introduce vehicles and ziplines that totally bypass it.

Death Stranding 2 has the same problem the first game had where its impossible to care about or feel connected to the characters because they don't exist outside of cutscenes. It also makes the game world feel utterly lifeless and sterile despite the fact that you're supposedly surrounded by fledgling civilization everywhere you go.

Unironically my favourite part of the game is the desert area.

>>713669520 (OP)
I walk in the outback IRL and it's somehow more fun IRL and more desolate than in DS2.
Does Kojima think Australia has high population density? You can travel by car on main highways out there and not bump into a soul for 50km. It's also flat. Australia is more like pic for most of it. If not, it's the same but with no trees. Eyre sums up the experience - "a place of bad dreams" when talking about travelling for 1000s of kms on foot and horseback on flat nothing. Why has it got mountains and hoodoos in this game? Only the pilbara, east coast and south west look a bit like that and even then only for small amounts of it.

I will admit though, the BTs are kinda cool. They resemble aboriginal spirits.
