Just dropped, what's the /v/erdict?
Shitstem Shock will never be good
Looking GlASS was a meme studio that deserved to tank
(((Ken Levine))) should have been stuffed in an oven before he ever got the opportunity to shit out any gayms
>>713723341 (OP)it's just mods slapped on top of the old games lmao.
How can we make the "immersive sim" genre popular?
It seems like they are doomed to underperform
It's made from mods and they changed nothing in any sort of gameplay form. Please pirate it. They do not deserve your money. It's an actual scam.
>>713723397This keep your political beliefs to yourself dont care where anyone stands
>>713724697I've come to expect developers giving unsolicited political opinions. It's the "you should literally be killed if you vote for the wrong flavor of Jewish puppet" shit that I can't abide.
>>713724697This keep your political beliefs to yourself... unless it's something that aligns with mine of course, then i'm gonna leave a like and write "Based and redpilled"
It's okay. The new graphics are pretty good, though Hybrids are too smooth looking for my taste. They haven't really done any rebalancing so the core gameplay is identical (for better and for worse). However, apart from touching the game up for modern systems and improved (?) multiplayer, there isn't much reasons to get it over the original so if you already have it, only get it if you want more multiplayer
>>713725169it really is just mods slapped on top of it. that's it, that's the remaster you pay for.
>>713728695Go ahead and post a single mod that changes the lightning/videos, even models like the game does. Or just concede you've no idea what you're talking about
>>713728978Yes, the game uses community mods because those put a shitton of work over the years to polish it. What's also true is that NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THOSE MODS CHANGES THE GAME TO THE SAME EXTENT AS THE REMASTER DOES.
Load those fucking mods into base game and you'll see that it's not even close to looking the same as the remaster
>>713729429>we also rebaked the lighting with double the resolution, that will be $30 + tip
>>713723341 (OP)Dead on Arrival like all remasters.
>>713729692Oh so you're conceding your original argument was completely bullshit and now you're stuck moving the goalpost?
>$30Should've preordered the SS remake as I did
>>713723341 (OP)fuck nightdive I will never give them another cent.
I don't know why you would pay for this instead of downloading the exact same community patch for free unless you just really like seeing game names in your steam library (autism)
>>713723397oh damn, they just earned themselves a sale
>>713723397I wish people would hate Trump for the correct reasons and not the completely made up bullshit
>>713723341 (OP)>open an ini file with notepad>modify some number to allow more resolutions>generate some HD textures with AI>drag and drop them over the og onesPAY. US. BIGOT.
>>713729965>remakenta but kill yourself
>>713730137>ntaSure, sure. By the way, I finished the original SS long before your father decided to move on from fucking roadkill carcasses to inseminating your mother with a lunchbox, a decision that weighs heavily on everyone
Aliens Vs Predator remaster when?
>>713729965i didn't argue shit, i only posted the mod list with le meme arrow and it got you all defensive
this "remaster" is a fucking joke even by nightdive standards, most of it IS in fact mods. there are barely any kek engine improvements, not even dynamic shadowmaps are in
>preordering anythingoh, it's an actual retard
If you ever want SS3, you owe it to Nightdive to buy the SS1 remake and SS2 remaster.
>>713723341 (OP)For the past year or so ive been asking all the time when that thing is gonna release and everybody always said never ever.
So when exactly did they announce a release and why did it release out of nowhere?
>>713731702Not gonna happen cause of Tencent having the rights to SS3
It's bad.
>why
Because it's NEW and OLD GOOD NEW BAD
Also some irrelevant politics thing nobody with an IQ over 40 cares about
>>713730345Honestly I want a Wolfenstein 3d or RTCW remaster from them.
>>713723341 (OP)The only good part of System Shock 2 is the GamePIG
>>713723341 (OP)looks fun but reviews says its unoptimized
shame
>>713732760it's bad because charging people for free community mods is the scummiest, laziest shit I can even imagine. it's shocking. only the dumbest subhuman retard in the entire world would see this as an acceptable purchase.
>>713723397I couldn't care less about the retarded american political shitflinging. I get games I like, left or right, do not care
>>713723341 (OP)Did they fix all enemies endlessly respawning on a timer? That shit doesn't belong in a horror game with limited resources.
>>713723397The CEO is from Portland. Its not exactly surprising.
>>713733396I normally hate that but the mob spawns aren't as common and resources are plentiful. As long as you're not playing on Impossible and learn the wrench dance to conserve ammo (at least until roughly halfway through the game), you're going to be coasting through
>>713732990Yeah, classic Wolfie needs more love. You should play Brutal Wolf 7.0 if you haven't yet. It's not about the gore, but rather the gameplay editions and faithful level re-designs that I enjoy so much.
>Nightdive's dreams of rebooting the franchise have ended in a wet fart
Who would a thought that a series that only ever achieved cult success would never catch on
>>713723397>muh identity politicswhy are fagmericans like this?
Already finished it. Decent overall. Don't like the new enemy models but that's about it. If you want specifics about what changed I have a laundry list of them.
>>713723341 (OP)Is it out on console too already or is that coming later? If yes how is it with a controller? Inventory management specifically.
>>713723397americans are unironically the most politically retarded pathetic faggots in the entire world. they'll do everything to tear each other down over politics but WON'T DO SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE
>>713725169What kind of advertisement tactic is this?
>>713737042They delayed it to 2 weeks from now
Inventory management looks hard with a controller. I can grab one and tell you how bad it is
>>713733396>limited resourcesthe respawning enemies drop resources
>>713723341 (OP)No point in playing this when cyberpunk77 exist

>>713737153>2 weeksMakes sense I guess cause consoles usually charge for patches but PC doesn't. I just hope crossplay works. The bigger my coop pool the better.
>>713725169It's a thread about a pointless remaster. It only exists to get deservably shit on
>>713737176I recall most of the hybrids dropping Jack Daniels and sodas. But since I typically play OP melee builds, I'm fine with that.
>>713736960I need to know.
>>713737934>1 soda>1 broken shotgun with 1 shellEventually I just stop checking most enemies.
>>713737934they drop nanites sometimes
>>713738109>broken shotgunsThat was the other thing. I think you can get a skill or psi-power to deconstruct junk into nanites, at least. This was one of the best upgrades to take in DE:MD, too
>>713737508>>713737994I will in a few minutes
>>713737579Okay I just tried it. The controller is fine for moving around and shooting but for inventory management it's bad. You can bind psi powers to LB + ABYX or weapons to RB + ABYX by hovering over them in your inventory and pressing Y and then moving down and selecting where to bind them to. It's pretty cumbersome. You can definitely beat the game with just four weapons or psi powers but the real problem seems to be that you can't bind items to use like medical hypos which is almost essential for regular play
>>713734715he's from portland and there studio is from southern washington state
>>713723397lol get fucked commie troons will never buy your games
>>713738504NTA, but I'm also interested in whether Nightdive made any adjustments to any of the audio diaries or ingame text to wokify or 'fix' anything. Hopefully not.
>>713738504I pray these retards touched on Exotic weapons.
>>713723341 (OP)I had tons of fun with the remaster of the first one. How does this game compare with the first one?
>>713738504Not having at the very least a fast way to use med or psi hypos seems criminal. I don't suck at vidya so I can deal but still. Thanks.

>>713723397He's actually right.
>>713723397He's actually wrong.
>>713738504Right so some specifics. These will be a little more general at first
>Mods confirmed to be in use by Nightdive include SHTUP, SCP and SS2 400>Audio options for dialogue captions>Cap FPS, ambient occlusion, bloom, anti-aliasing graphics options>Controller support on PC>Melee swing assist option. No idea what it does though. Maybe improves hitboxes while meleeing>Language options for interface / captions French, German, Italian, Spanish>View and weapon bob options>Voice chat built in>Multiplayer still has a cap of 4 >LAN still available as a multiplayer mode. Tested it and can actually use a single computer to run 4 instances of the game for multiplayer this way>Still share items in multiplayer by dragging them to the player or dropping them>50 achievements. Most seem generic though like reach energy skill 6 and such >Game vault on menu which has artwork, manuals, the prima walkthrough guide, cutscenes, the soundtrack, unused voice lines, interviews and promotional videos >Technical tutorial now includes a small section about security alarms>Replicators have a new thank you voice line (may have previously been unused)>Cutscenes are at 1080p up from about 240p orginially>Can find the cutscenes in the game folder as well just like the original>3.7 gig game size
>journo playing SS2

>Main menu scrolls binary code more convincingly >All help terminals on medsci deck removed from the game or at least I didn't find any >15 save slots (up from 13) in addition to game duration they also have timestamps and can be renamed>Contextual display box appears near items / devices. Further contextual information display boxes appear when using a controller>Some fog effects added, especially near the Regulators in Hydroponics>New icons for all inventory items >MFD button in use mode changed to an image of a person>New weapon models but the same sound effects >Weapon reload animations added. They usually don't play if you press reload too rapidly >Restored SHODAN audio log about testing her patience, similar to when she complains as Polito that you move slowly. I believe this plays in the Recreation deck Garden>Items like medical keys and power cells are automatically used when you click on their associated devices>Security computer hack requirement seems to be lowered to 1. Need to check impossible difficulty to confirm>Can't loot Watts' body until he's actually dead>Can't loot Polito's body at all
>>713739612Still looking into this as they differ between difficulty and I don't know them off by heart
>>713739868Cool. Thank you. I like Exotic weapons but they sucked

Almost hard to see at times >Med hypo and medkit heal in increments of 1 quickly as opposed to blocks of 3 or 5 >Psi powers still don't persist through load screens>Psi power quick cycling on keyboard is still done through the function keys >OS upgrade 4 moved from Rickenbacker bridge to the first Rickenbacker pod area>A vent helps to explain where Tommy and Rebecca came from at the start of Command B>Security bot which ambushes you in the church now has his own little room so it makes more sense where he came from>Oxygen meter added (SS2 tool also had this)

Very flat textures in some parts >Water not really improved much >System Shock 1 virtual reality segment made more accurate by adding assets like buttons, cyberjacks, diego display screens and power stations from the original game in the same artstyle>Orbs of data that float in the SS1 level now make a noise so you don't accidentally step into them>SHODAN core and avatar looks far better. Shield now a single color instead of rotating different ones-Laser rapier glow effect on environment looks better
-Certain enemy attacks also glow and light up the corridors as they move through them
>In the area upstairs in Command from the Korenchkin fight there's now an office for Korenchkin off the side. His brain is stored in there for the fight>Delacroix's corpse was moved to the wall nearby possibly to obscure it. Her body more accurately reflects her attire in the audio logs>Game is definitely a lot smoother than the original and not just because of the framerate changes >Mantling doesn't seem to work quite as well. Gets stuck in certain spots where it wouldn't before>While most text elements have been improved the maps remain pixelated except for certain icons >Game bugs noted. SS2 Autist here, probably played the base game 40-50 or so times not counting FMs, spent most of my day playing the remake and I definitely have mixed thoughts on the remaster
>Weapon animations are very good and they have great inertia when looking/moving but they're always out of sync with reloads and changing ammo and in general they're really easy to bug out if you swap ammo types
>Facial animations on enemies look nice for all of two seconds until the way they must be rigged causes them to spazz the fuck out, when I killed the Turnbull hybrid her worm came off her scalp and it looked retarded
>Some of the new animations added to stuff in general look like shit, particularly the legs on the protocol droids falling backwards, its like they're stop motion and it looks tacky anyway.
>For all the focus they put on new animations I had this moment during the SHODAN reveal where these little niggas were just stiff as a board when in the original they're animated during the cutscene
>The updated UI looks good (RIP MFD though) except for the new item icons, they look like total shit. It's really hard to tell what certain items are supposed to be at a glance, but that could just be that I'm so used to the OG
>They were pretty lazy in certain areas, the worms you can scoop into new beakers are the same as in vanilla and they look so out of place compared to the rest of the new models, and some items like the researchable Psi Booster don't even have a model.
>New character audio log portraits look good and they haven't done anything pozzed to them (yet anyway), in general a lot of the new item models and enemy models are very good and fit the aesthetic of the OG unlike shit like rebirth
(cont)
>>713723341 (OP)Is it better than the original version?
>>713753270>Achievements are nice and I plan on 100%ing it but there's a lot of stupid ones that are just "get 6 in x skill" which is just bloated and means you'll need to max out useless meme skills like endurance and repair to get all the achievements, which is a slog>The price tag is ridiculous. This should be 20 dollars USD at most and I would even consider that overpriced, they're out of their minds selling this for 30 fucking dollars. >Controllerfag controls being first in the options menu before KB/M rubs me the wrong way, this shit is a PC game first and foremost no matter how they were able to hack it into working on a controller for consolefags>No FOV slider or UI scaling option in the menu is positively retarded, that should have been such an obvious day one addition to have>Just in general this seems like it somehow needed more time in development despite the fact that it already took as long as it did. It's just stapling some new stuff ontop of a 25 year old game and mods the community had already made them, I don't know how they had 5 years to come out with this and for it to still have some wonky shit in itHaven't had the chance to test co-op, mods, or FMs yet but for now those are my thoughts. It's a decent enough remaster for oldfags, what
>>713736960 and the rest of his posts go into are generally my thoughts as well. It's been fun to play through it since I was a backer on SSR and I didn't have to pay for this but it's definitely not worth it at full price, wait for it to go on sale for 15 or so. If you really wanna play SS2 just play the original with mods, it's been perfectly good that way for the past 25 years and will continue to be so.

Beat it, it's okay, but I didn't pay for it and I probably wouldn't
Best way to play the game is still the og with the usual fanpatches and rebalance mods
Extremely baffled by the minor attempts at rebalancing the OS upgrades, why even bother?
Also I might be going insane but in all the times I've replayed the game, with or without mods, I don't think you ever had to power up the bball court again to send the transmission even though it makes sense

That the only reason THAT exists is probably because the creator loves the time period when immersive sim games were at their peak of quality and release density.
1992-2000 was immersive sim utopia and barring an occasional game taking inspiration from the games released in that period, we are never going to see anything like it again. Genuinely, look at the industry we have right now. How exactly do you see actual good immersive sims becoming popular at this point?

are there any comparison photos with the SS2 classic release on steam? it would be more fair than comparing to the original release

It's definitely an allegory for vaxcattle though

Before I pull the trigger, is the game political?
>>713811461Not unless you're terminally online and insert meaning that isn't there.
>>713811461is robots vs. aliens political
>>713802493You can even parry enemy attacks if you hit their weapon with yours mid animation.

>>713782585What do you call this fallacy where you ignore all criticism and loudly cry about people being entitled for expecting a product which is literally just an existing product but updated to not make things worse
>>713795440>>713801896Yeah but with movies it only happens if the remaster is shit. With games people will just get mad no matter what you release, it literally happens every time. It's like if people insisted on only watching VHS releases because they are "soul" and they already bought the movie so they won't be "tricked" into buying it again.
>>713785951Exotic weapons
>>713813223There's a cinephile case to be made that the purest format to view a movie in is actual film on a projector, even for home viewing. This kind of rigorous elitism is very common among all types of enthusiasts.
>>713813065The only criticisms I'm hearing is that it's just a modpack made from mods that already exist and that you could have the same experience by just modding the game, which isn't true at all. I have played heavily modded SS2 and I'm playing this remaster, and the remaster feels much more professional and consistent and it is also much more faithful to the original look (just compare the HD models from that mod to the remaster's HD models, the new ones are just the old ones but better while the mod was more like the Half-Life HD models, as in half the designs look completely wrong and miss the point of the originals).
Then the other criticisms I'm hearing is just stock "remasters are le bad" shit.
The only valid criticism is that the price is about twice as high as it should be, which I agree on, it should have been cheaper. Still, the game itself is fine.

Why?
>>713724167nu-Zelda is essentially an imm-sim and it's giga popular, also games like Valheim, just don't make boring boomer shit with linear corridor levels
>>713813561But nobody has a projector at home so it's never gonna look the same, and it doesn't really matter anyway with how good the picture quality of modern TV's are. Thirty years ago, watching a movie in the theater was a completely different experience than seeing it at home but now, not so much. I never see proper cinephiles insist that watching a 4K bluray at home is "doing it wrong" (unless that specific bluray has major cockups maybe). You mostly see this kind of autism with the more nerdy kind of movies like Star Wars that also got fucked with endlessly
Should I play System Shlock 1 remaster or this if I never touched the series?
>>713814883Why can't brown people count?
>>713814883You should try out the SS1 enhanced edition first.
>>713724329the gameplay is good theres no need to change anything
>>713814883It depends on how well you deal with retro games.
I guess the most normie friendly option is going 1 remake > 2 remaster. I love the original System Shock 1 but it is a very weird and old game that I wouldn't recommend to anyone because it's so inaccesible. If you are a seasoned retro game autist who can handle weird UI and controls, and graphics that are more primitive than Minecraft, then you should definitely try the OG System Shock

SS1EE is a bit hard to recommend unless you like looking at a calculator ass interface.
>>713798185You are my homie, anon. It's better than 4U too.
I wish there were a mod to turn SS2 into a Thief like game that you could 100% stealth. Change lighting to make the environment super dark, sneak attack everyone from shadows.
I loved deus ex but alt-f4ed out of system shock 2 20 minutes into the game i dunno why but system shock 2 isn't that good as people make it out to be.
whoa they need to fix that

>>713822973I was worried about the new models, but it honestly looks good
They added a ton of concept art and stuff, too, so if anything it's more soul
>>713822973From the screenshots I've seen it looks too sterile and clean and lacks the grit of the original. But they might've fixed that with the release.
