Stygian Onslaught is just another victim of Mihoyo's new design philosophy of designing everything around the shiny new units. They've always shilled new characters before, but it wasn't this bad until Natlan.

They designed the entire volcano region around Varesa so if you skipped her, you're stuck with the tatankasaurs which are horrible to play as. They designed entire artifact sets around ONE character. Nightsoul mechanic exists solely to fuck over pre-Natlan characters. No energy in SO to make sure you aren't using those older burst dependent characters. This design philosophy is infecting every part of this game, not just endgame.
