I don't think a single video game has a genuinely tear-jerking moment. Maybe tears out of boredom at some games?
Video game writing is so far below basically any other media, it's not even comparable.

I just expect everything to die in souls games, Sekiro was a little better about it but Elden ring took it a step further and kills off all the quest givers or turns them in to the fantasy equivalent of a bobble head

To me the menu screen hits harder, idk why. Its got that serenity and tranquility that makes you feel like you're watching the sun set after a legendary battle for the sake of everything.

Slightly embarrassing but it was Metaphor Refantazio a couple of days ago. I despised that game pretty much the whole way through but the whole final hour or so with the dungeon and lead up to the boss was fantastic. I hope Galica's VA continues to work for years to come.

Do people really cry while playing video games?

I have never ever done that and I highly doubt that I ever will in my entire lifetime

I understand getting emotional over a scenario in a movie because real people are involved but youโ€™re crying over these low quality production cutscenes ?

Itโ€™s just a video game bro don't let it get to your head

Movies are far shorter -> there is less investment.
Movies give you no agency -> you give less shits about what's happening.

If anything, crying over a movie seems more strange than getting emotional over a game

Movies are shorter but generally way better written with more immersion.

And what youโ€™re saying doesnt really make sense. Are you more likely to cry over a long video game as opposed to a shorter one? So longer games affect your emotions and you will easily cry by the end because you are really invested?

And how does having played with a controller or m&k justify crying over a video game? If it had something to do with having agency, do you cry because you suck at the game? Because the game will inevitably arrive to narrative cutscene as long as you checked off some boxes and if you think that gives you the right to burst into tears then I donโ€™t know what to tell you

If you want to cry over video games go for it, thats on you. I just think itโ€™s really weird and even weirder how youโ€™re justifying it

Have fun, just donโ€™t cry too much
