You will likely enjoy it as it is very similar to World in a lot of ways despite that /v/ might tell you as the games are seen as having a rivalry. I would watch a bit of footage of a hunt as there are some differences, but the actual hunting aspect is super similar. They are around 10-12 hours per game. Silence the pedant lightkravte is a bit shorter. They use a lot of katakana for magic-related words so it can be a bit confusing so it's understandable if you want to skip them for now.

It's good but it was designed with the mindset that it's a "portable experience" so the hunts are a lot shorter and the fights themselves except the super late game ones are easier. Still somehow harder than Wilds though. If you want a more arcade straight to the point experience you'll like it more than World, but I found myself kind of disappointed by how early World monsters would actually stump me, while Rise monsters I just plowed through. I played World after Rise btw

I'm really enjoying the gameplay of Wild Assault.
I can go Vlad and be a walking tank with 200 rounds of laser-precision death and explosive cannon rounds. Or Uly and sneak around underground, occasionally popping up to shoot someone or throw out my remote control exploding cart. Or Hong and send myself flying through the air at the speed of light with a roll, then pop ult and be reviving everything nearby. Everyone sprints on all fours, making them smaller targets so running in and out of combat has it's value. And many characters will jump higher when sprinting, allowing you to reach some areas players won't expect you to be. Slides, rolls, lotta movement tech to learn and use.
It only has 3 maps right now, and it's furshit, but I'm having fun.

Why are 95% of the recommended games in this thread anime shovelware i have never heard of?

pirated chrono ark and played it for a few hours, it's pretty nice but kinda... i don't know how to put it, disjointed? less than the sum of it's parts? i feel like it kinda wants to be both a cute anime style game, what with a bikini chick wielding a chainsaw, but also wants to be hardcore/depressing with the loop thing, and falls short on both. fights were pretty nice though, i enjoyed the system.

Eh, Doom is Doom, everyone should have a copy and no one really cares where it comes from at this point. As long as you have the base IWADs you are good to go. I wouldn't bother launching it through Steam or whatever but it is as fine a place as any to get it.
