they fucked it up. either you pirate the day 1 version or you stay away from it or the game will be ruined for you. updates they've released have made the game trivial. ever since launch they've made inventory system redundant, they've made traversal redundant because your gravity sword now boosts you into air 5x as high, they've made boss fights redundant by allowing your to permanently cling onto them when previously you had to time everything. they also removed any death penalties so it's just an extremely casual game now.
all the postlaunch maps they've released are trash too. they are made for earlygame players, but there's enough earlygame content as is. as someone who finished the game and then came back to try the new maps out - they're pure trash and hold nothing of value. not even good resources are there. it's clear that the devs are in panic mode because they have no idea who to cater to.
also the story and characters are terrible, be warned. it's got the typical white man antagonist trope so you know how the rest goes.
t. played it all. day 1 version is a 10/10. the current version cant be recommended.
