If there are cutscene issues specifically, then it might take some time for Valve to do whatever video transcoding shit they do (and I don't understand it so I won't pretend that I do), but GE Proton would solve that issue immediately if it's just a matter of needing some codec that GE Proton already provides.

>>713998738>and when some game with some issue is popular enough for Valve to give a shit about pushing a hotfix for it,>and when some game with some issue is popular enoughand there lies the issue
>>713998559>Still not saying any game namesI played ER on release. I played Space Marine 2 on release. I just beat Stellar Blade. Even installed mods. I played that new Dynasty Warriors Origins game. I pirated Lies of P dlc. In fact in the last year only one game I wanted to play had any issues, that have now been fixed (Le Mans Ultimate)
You are full of shit.
>Running Linux
>Haven't played a steam game in a long time
>Let's try out something new
>Download the new Mina the Hollower demo on Steam
>Install Proton, the 'just werks' tool
>It doesn't werk
>No message why
>Try a few different versions
>It doesn't werk
>Try regular wine, which sometimes works
>It doesn't werk
>Try Lutris, which has literally never worked for anything
>It doesn't werk
>>713998853If a game isn't "popular" then it will not need a fix, because it's engine is not going to be complicated enough to require something like making some special dxvk code path to fix a shader combinatorics problem.
>>713998853Some obscure indie game not getting the attention of Valve's "holy shit we need to make this game work on Steam Deck right now" team is an issue in that some game with a fixable issue might not be fixed FOR YOU by Valve (who are often just configuring Proton to apply some shit you can do with a launch option anyway), but again, it's not as if Proton needs to be tweaked for every game that releases. If that were the case then only AAA games would be playable. In reality a lot of indie shit just works. Nobody at Valve stepped in to fix those.
>>713999116Guess you gotta werk harder
>>713999216so you're saying if you don't play AAA goyslop, it's a coin toss if a game works or not, with yet another coin toss after if it gets fixed in a timely manner
wonderful
>>713999116>Be everyone else>Demo works fine no tweaks needed
>>713999349That mentality while still ignoring linux's obnoxious instability for the most asinine reasons imaginable is why most people just go back to windows, or if the steam hardware survey is to be believed, macOS.
>>713999337>if it might work or might not work, then it's a 50% coin tossWeird how my coin lands on "works" 98% of the time. Must be a magic coin or something.
>>713999478That's the magic of being a normie and never playing anything too obscure that (((journos))) didn't advertise already.
>>713999439I am not an evangelical, and I'm on fucking 4chan. If somebody in earnest had that issue that wasn't in a thread to just try to make Linux look bad, I might ask questions to see if he fucked up something and could help him. But here, I'm just going to call you what you are, a fucking retard. Mina the Hollower is a basic as fuck game. I was also looking forward to it and played the demo the second it was announced. There was no setup allowed. If literally nothing worked for him, he has broken something that has nothing to do with Linux gaming. Maybe he dual boots and puts his shit on a shitty ntfs drive. Maybe he has some esoteric setup that I don't know about. I'm not going to help him figure it out because he should kill himself instead.
>>713999621I mostly play indie games, actually.
>>713999621I primarily play pre-2000's Japanese visual novels in Japanese using tools like ITH and I have zero problems.
>>713999621When you're done using your zero Linux experience to tell actual Linux users on 4chan what does and doesn't work, please tell the journos in your head that I said thanks for making Valve fix the ultra-popular smash-hit blockbuster Donut Dodo for me.
>>713987557Wine Is Not An Emulator
>>713970434 (OP)I tried using Lutris to install a few games from GOG on my Deck, but every time after a game is downloaded it gives me an error and tells that it couldn't find innoextract. What's worse, I can't find any relevant solutions in Google.
Ironically, emulation and pirated Linux versions work flawlessly, unlike non-Steam games I fucking own.
>people do whole mental gymnastic to have clean windows install but setting up few lines on proton or wine is somehow too complex
I really don't get this dumb shit.
I used linux only one time last year and it was awful
it required manual isntalls of a bunch of shit and the only good upside was being able to run docker cleanly. everything else was a letdown.
>>714003283use mint dont fall for the arch meme
>>714003768 used zorin.
and I aint falling for shit no mopre cuz I am enver installing linux again.

>>714003858uh, do it anyway?
>>713988483You barely need use terminal nowdays, most stuff can be done via GUI.
If you need use then people tell what exactly you should type.
>>713970434 (OP)i tried 3 games on lutris and only one worked .
>>713976525Theres literally no reason it wouldn't work thoever
>>713981829Or maybe it's the fact that windows has a multi billion dollar corporation shilling and advertising it and Linux is made by a few hundred nerds in their free time with a 0 dollar advertising budget. Or maybe it's that windows was first to the market, completely conquered it, and now has tons of momentum behind it, which is extremely difficult to slow down.
>>713988483You live in the exact age where you can type a simple question about how to do anything into a chatbot and get an answer perfectly tailored for your retard brain
>>713988483>and when you come across a problem, they give you a command to paste into the terminal instead of uploading a whole page worth of screenshots showing all the things to click with the mouse in order to accomplish the same thing as pasting one line of textwow no way.
Just paste the text and shut up, brainlet.
