WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF POSITIVE THOUGHT! ESPECIALLY COLLECTIVE POSITIVE THOUGHT!

THIS SHIT IS GOING TO REACH 1,000,000 SIGNATURES EASILY!
HOLD THAT THOUGHT AND VISUALIZE IT IN YOUR MIND EVERYDAY AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE STARTING NOW AND IT WILL MANIFEST INTO REALITY. DO IT! I'M NOT JOKING!

VISUALIZE AS OFTEN AND AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE!

EVERYTHING IS ENERGY AND VIBRATION
ATTUNE YOUR VIBRATIONS TO MATCH THAT OF FREE STUFF AND IT WILL FLOW TO YOU

We are slightly beating our sign rate from our first 4 days of the campaign by about 20%. If it has a similar curve as that did than we might be able to make it.

The only restriction and obligation being a dedicated server button. Conan Exiles and Rust both have that, which is why they will never die even should development cease on both of those games and their developer completely abandon them. This will only work in the favor of the devs as over the years people will continue to buy the game due to word of mouth and community persistence. Killing games to sell NEXT GAME is a short term strategy that promises profits, but does not actually deliver them.

Ok but you don't need to make everything about teams. Everyone wants to own what they buy without it being taken away arbitrarily. Like no matter what your political view. Go ahead and ask anyone if they want things they buy be taken away. You don't need to be part of specific team to say "No, I don't want things I buy be taken away arbitrarily".

You can't play the original Dark Souls online right now for example, without spoofing the client precisely because of it, since it had been shut down after a malicious exploit had been discovered and Namco decided not to bother trying to fix it and just pulled the plug on the online service.

Wrong wording but general idea remains the same. Having companies with bad business practices and saying "VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET" doesn't work like that. Otherwise Disney would have gone bankrupt years ago. Regulation exists because you need to have some protections.
Like a common sense regulation is to not have companies dump raw waste into a river that people source water from. Your proposed solution is "LETS GET EVERYONE TO NOT BUY FROM THEM" while they're still dumping shit into the river.

Piracy worked as free advertisement for games. A pirated game later starts to sell, especially if it was good, because the pirate starts to suggest the game to his friends or online.
Also, if games are mainstream today, we owe it to the PS2 piracy era which popularized games.

Not enough? EU paid a lot of menoy to commission a study to demostrate that piracy hurted sales.
They later hidden everything because the study did not give the hoped results. The study did not manage to demostrate that piracy hurted sales.

All online games utilize dedicated servers, yes. Otherwise there's no online connectivity. The user is rarely the host these days, instead that is offloaded to a central server ran by the company that manages the incoming connections. You do realize that it's still a dedicated server even if you are not the one hosting it and instead it's some PC in San Diego. Or do you imagine that PSN is a magical hivemind of PS3's talking to one another to form one big powerful supercomputer? Because it's not like that at all. The online connectivity of PSN games is guaranteed by countless dedicated servers running on their in-house software stack. Each game with an online component that is present on PSN has its own software that acts as such.

You can compare the drop in sales figures in sum along with something called an "average" which is how we figure out when averaging different things. Yes people are more likely to buy things during sales or during christmas and such. However by gathering a lot of datapoints you can smooth out the irregularities by comparing it from multiple sources and seeing how heavily it effects sales figures in the sum of all video games measured in the study thus deducing a general pattern. This is how statistics work. That's basic common sense shit and how we measure multiple datapoints

Did you know you are legally obliged to support software products with security patches for almost a decade there? There's a lot of other laws regarding digital products as well, making sure the company can't just take away access or include planned obsolescence.

Wow. There's retards, and then there's you.
Did you know Steam has an entirely seperate internet's worth of peering between backbone providers, such that if one of the major ISPs around the world ever shits its pants, Steam's infrastructure can switch to the failover and is not affected?

Yeah- PSN DOES NOT HAVE THAT.

Any multiplayer game made by indie devs in recent memory that's on steam uses peer to peer or community servers rather than a company hosted server you fucking mongolid. You're saying that a poor little indie dev would own a fucking server to host an entire fucking game platform on yet at the same time not be able to ever offer end of life access or somehow not be able to do so. >Imagine being this dense
Legally they can't do that, the fact they do is only because no one has sued them and set a legal precedent that they shouldn't be able to steal you're money with no recourse.
If a game company bans you from their game, they should, at the very least, give back every single cent you spent in the game including all associated purchases and subscriptions.
This way all those permabans and trigger happy AIs would disappear from all games within a year since they would lose so much money they'd rather not ban everyone and their mother.

If it's under warranty, then yes. I'm asking for a refund or repair.

Anon. I don't believe that piracy hurts sales. I pulled these statistics because the estimation someone else made was way off and assumed piracy was crippling the video games economy and pointed out even people who agreed with him said it was only a 20% decrease in sales "at most".
You're attacking somebody who agrees with you

>ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical adventure and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed! ScummVM is a complete rewrite of these games' executables and is not an emulator.

Functionally it is a wrapper in all but name.

In reality it's all sorts of GAME ENGINES *rebuilt*, you fucking moron.
that's why cool stuff is possible in ScummVM, but isn't in shit like ShitBox. Like having new functionality which wasn't there. Or fixing 50 year old bugs. Or using game data to display more colors than the original GAME ENGINE displayed.

These people weren't going to buy the game to begin with. You equate physical merchandise to digital goods. That's like saying watching a letsplay of a Virtual Novel or a walkthrough of a ride/a theme park is equivalent of a lost sale. You are thinking with a 20th century brain but the digital age is simply different. If you think piracy is hurting video games then you must also think that anybody who watches a lets play on line is also functionally stealing money from the dev.

Denuvo is supposed to lock these non-payers out, which is a good thing.
So no harm done then and Denuvo can stay and in fact should get expanded, just like Valve proposes.
