If you are buying it for the gameplay it's actually pretty underwhelming. The combat is simplistic and relies too heavily on parry's making attacking generally the worst option. the game is extremely short not counting side quest and all the side quest are fetch quest you do for outfits. The story is also very weak.

If you are there to goon Eve is very hot. I literally only finished the game to stare at her ass more. Also the music is okay. It's definitely not worth full price unless you are goonmaxxing.

Wouldn't really call the gameplay "simplistic". Counterattacks are actually quite engaging in this game (and rewarding if done right). To be fair the game starts kinda slow because you're missing so many skills and tools.

I have the full board unlocked. The problem is the combat system tries to go in a direction of being more "action oriented" while missing everything that makes such a system work. It makes it end up somewhere between a basic action game and some souls shit, with an extremely heavy emphasis on parrying.

The easiest example to use is when The big plot reveal happens about the true nature of the world and it's basically a 1 minute "oh no" and then Eve just goes "whatever lets just keep going"

Contrast that to Nier Automata. As everything is revealed, the characters begin to change. 2B becomes hopeless, 9S goes insane, and A2 is more mature so attempts to fix things. There is a progression as things are revealed to you and the characters that gives you an emotional attachment to all of their situations. They evolve as the game goes on leading to moments like you having an actual emotional reaction to the fate of Pascal

Stellar Blades biggest problem in this regard is it's just shallow. The story is bad because it's shallow, making every single event that transpires feel cheap, and most of the "twist" are obvious and you deduce within the first 10 minutes of the game.

A vast majority of the game, if it takes you 50 hours, is doing very fetch quest style side quest. I did the entirety of the first batch you got, and then was too bored to do them a single time after, and the game wrapped up extremely quickly.

The problem is, if you want to get the costumes, you need to get them in NG+1, then in NG+2. You only get those on +2 if you picked their equivalent on +1 (and only if you got them in NG). And I think there are some in quests, some in Eidos 9... requiring almost 3 full playthroughs
It's very annoying.

So either you do a very quick speedrun of one playthrough, just sticking to main story, in easy, breezing (shouldn't be THAT long but still), or maybe get someone's save just before the final boss for bad ending path.

What the hell is up with the last 3 boss fights? That difficulty spike really caught me off-guard.

The gameplay isn't simplistic at all. It's basically a cross between Sekiro and a full action game and it does it pretty well.
The game on normal is just too easy to make it really shine and they force a normal difficulty playthrough sadly.
The game is short if you ignore side quests and the open world segments, that is true. I thought the exploration was neat though so I had much more playtime.
Won't disagree on story being mediocre and it not being worth full price necessarily.

The hexagonal pattern used for the "barrier" that seems to disappear after Demogorgon dies is also used at the beginning of the game when the dropships activate their "shield". That would suggest they're similar or maybe even the same. But There are subtle differences.

However, Mother Sphere and the Andro-Eidos are both products of humanity's technology and the war started after the Spires had already been built and were being used. That the Spire may have had its own shield/barrier that predates Mother Sphere's Colony or is otherwise separate but similar is a possibility.

But the way the shield/barrier appears then dissipates AFTER the explosion that coincides with Demogorgon's disintegration and NOT immediately after the railgun blast, makes me think the shield/barrier is tied more to Demogorgon/Spire 4 than Mother Sphere cloaking all of the Colony. I'm not saying Mother Sphere is not cloaking the Colony, but I don't think the barrier we see after killing Demogorgon is evidence to that possibility.

To me, it makes more sense that Demogorgon had control over Spire 4's barrier and that's part of the reason why Mother Sphere would not have made an attempt to attack it, given it is a very obvious point of connection between low Earth orbit and the surface.

Though, that's still a bit weird, considering Eve could take it down even if she had to sacrifice some of her own energy to do it. I mean, surely MS could sniped him anytime. Maybe she just wasn't afraid of it, like it was just too far.

And it could also explain why you still don't see the colony after it gets taken down.

There are a lot of tiny details like that in the game, which makes it really interesting. I don't think MS is that hostile to Naytibas (especially considering the scale of her "kingdom", and that she seemed to really held her dad in high esteem).
Understanding the timeline of events previous to the game seems to show a bit of hints about her potential true motivation.

At the start of the game, she's having trouble landing her troops on the beaches of Earth because of the effective anti-air capabilities of the Naytiba. Before EVE steps foot on Terran soil, the vast majority of her comrades have been killed, along with much of the squadron's support craft. After Adam saves EVE from the Unnamed Naytiba, we see little to nothing of the fleet responsible for landing the 7th Airborne Squadron, suggesting they were all wiped out. Mother Sphere's efforts to retake Earth do not go unchallenged.

So why not nuke her targets from orbit? Well, she kind of did a while back: The Colony Extinction. The result was massive devastation to much of the Earth's surface that did not succeed in wiping out her foes. Instead, the Naytiba continued to thrive and evolve. Lily remarks how Naytiba did not like water when she arrived, but by the time she wanted to return to the Atelier, they had adapted to water. Imagine if Naytiba had adapted to radiation or maybe they already have because of the Alpha Naytiba atop the orbital elevator.

But coming back to the Colony Extinction. That was an act of desperation by Mother Sphere. The Naytiba were winning at that point and is was her way to halting their advance. Since then, they have seemingly been at a stalemate. So, Mother Sphere had the opportunity to wreck devastating damage early on in the war.

This is speculation on my part, but if Mother Sphere sees herself and her Andro-Eidos as the heirs of humanity, then she would not want the destroy Earth. While she is at war with the Naytiba, she wants to rid the Earth of them, but also not destroy the planet in the process.

There's also something else to consider about the dyson sphere Mother Sphere seems to be creating. It could be that it's not meant to entrap the planet. It could be meant to protect it.

How "hard" is it to one shot the final boss to do the other ending after?

If I wanted to make sense of it, it would go something like this: Demogorgon had to be killed from within. First with Democrawler, who is somehow connected to Demogorgon, and then from within Spire 4's own barriers. You couldn't attack from outside the barrier. The shields on the dropships work. They stop the incoming missiles. They just don't protect enough of the ships to clear the threshold unscathed. In contrast, the barrier around Spire 4 is massive. Its size may also be indicative of its strength as well. But that scene does make a single Andro-Eidos seem very OP.

There is one other thing. The railgun isn't exactly regular issue. EVE's drone gun is a modification of Adam's drone. It's a combination of Lily's know-how and Adam's tech. It may not have been something Mother Sphere had access to.

In technical terms the game is quite optimized and runs well while also looking good, though there are some lower quality assets here and there as well (some low poly rocks and asphalt / cliff textures so far).

Combat is alright. It's fun when it clicks, looks stylish and flashy but it's a bit too focused on "perfect parry" chains at times. Overall the game is better than I expected so far. I thought this was just going to be some purely linear hallway action game but it actually opens up after the first area and the exploration is a lot better than I thought it would be. Just finished the game. "Finale" of the game being like 1/3rd of the game's length was bold. Still not as bold as them having the ONLY 2 difficult bosses in the entire game right at the end while also locking hard behind beating the game. Fighting 3 no armed metal gears was harder then 90% of the bosses in the game.

I just realized something about NG+
You need to beat all bosses in the boss challenge to get the outfit reward
You need to do a NG+ run to unlock both bosses (under normal play)
So when you finally unlock the outfit you get from beating all bosses, you will be stuck in the last area, unable to go to any other area to take pretty pictures

Think I figured out the problem. Most bosses in the game are easy because if you're not a retard you've overprepared by collecting most of the upgrades. I assumed he was originally a naytiba, because he talks about atoning for his sins through building and protecting Xion, a city of AEs. Well, that only makes sense from the point of view of a naytiba. However, it doesn't quite make sense he would say he was left for dead after the Colony Extinction. That's something a Legionnaire would say. But he does call himself the first Alpha Naytiba...and his Data Bank entry says "He was likely a respected figure before he turned into a Naytiba...probably"

Let's step back a bit. There are a few AExN "fusions" in the story:

Eve is mission focused with the one exception being what happened to Tachy. She can compartmentalize and put aside everything being revealed around her even as Lily is losing her shit because that's just how she is, that doesn't mean she isn't internalizing everything. In Xion, there's a clear effort to reduce energy use by keeping people in the cradle, where they can live in a low power state. When more power becomes available, they're revived. But they're not quite reviving people with just memory sticks and spare bodies. So that's not the same.

When you do Enya's sidequests, she's kind of revived after who knows how long and slowly regains her memory as her body is put together. Lily makes it sound more like a medical procedure than a repair. If we follow that analogy, there is only so far medicine may be able to go keep a person alive or revive them after a certain point.

In the Matrix 11 Hideout, the remaining Andro-Eidos that survived the Colony Extinction and went underground created an altar where they kept the memory sticks of all their fallen friends and family. They were treated as dead, so at least the grunts didn't have the power to revive the dead with memory sticks alone, even with what would be a bunch of spare bodies lying around after the war.

Then there's Tachy who asks about whether or not her memories can go back to Mother Sphere as she's dying. Lily also talks about this in her bad ending, but she remarks she doesn't want to become one with Mother Sphere. Also, the whole process of retrieving Memory Sticks seems to be so EVE can return them to Mother Sphere, like a god of lost souls.

It could be there's a technical way to revive someone just by uploading their memories into a new body, but the game doesn't touch upon that idea. It just emphasizes this spiritual value of the dead's memories, as if returning them to Mother Sphere is an ultimate goal, like going to Heaven to be with God. Whether that's a meaningful reality or just propoganda for Mother Sphere to more easily collect and recycle battle data is anyone's guess.

The closest thing to MGR2 right now will be Ninja Gaiden 4. It has PlatinumGames working on it, and some of Yakumo's animations are taken from Raiden and Sam. Even has stealth kills (though NG3 had that too). What is clear is that by merging with Adam, the EVE Protocol no longer has a purpose. That can be either through success OR failure. That screenshot is from Making New Memories and it's the only frame where Mother Sphere is making a face that's not placid. It always sticks out to me when she furrows her brows because she's so calm in every other shot in all the endings.

Speaking of all the endings, the neat thing about them is they're all slightly different. Mother Sphere never says the exact same thing twice, although they're similar. They also take place at different times of day.

I figured out the "humans" in Xion were actually androids literally immediately because they all look like Cyperpunk cyborgs and there's an entire side quest about repairing a "human" (Enya) with spare parts. Then when I got to the Naytiba production facility, it was a fairly logical leap to make that actually Eve's colony and the rest of the Xion androids were the winners of the Human-Android war and merely pretending to be humans. And it was incredibly obvious the Naytibas were mutated humans. But I did not figure out the Adam thing until Raven makes it extremely obvious, but maybe I'm just retarded.
Not sure if it's intended to be extremely obvious that everyone is an android. I think Enya makes it really hard to not figure it out. I guess the only "real" human left is Adam who is basically a Naytiba though.

I installed NIKKE just to recliam the DLC codes. having played 1 hour of that game, I can say that I cannot believe that Stellar Blade was made by those same guys, Its like a quantum leap.
That being said, I comprehend why the same is rough around some of its edges, because the devs lacked experience, and yet they produced SB. Like I said its not as refined as bayonetta or Nier Automata, but, for a first attempt from gacha games, the studio made, punt totally intended, a stellar job. I cannot wait for SB2 or its spiritual successor. Platinum Games is in such bad state that I hope for a jointly developed game with them and shift up.

If you like third-person action games with counter mechanics - Sekiro and Lies of P - and gooner eye candy, it's a must buy. If you're a fan of only one of those things, I would wait for a sale. If you're not a fan of either of those things, you will not enjoy the game.
For what it's worth, I really like the combat and the level design of certain areas. If it had a little more development, it could have been truly great, but it's just a good game outside of the gooner outfits because the story is fairly lackluster.

I recommend it, got 23+ hours right now, it's well optimized (despite fucking retarded denuvo, I'm blaming sony for that one). Game runs smoothe and I've got a midranged computer.

Gameplay side, it's basically a soulsborn with Nier automata aesthetics, with warframe style power.

DLC is alright, it's costumes & mini games, it's nothing "amazing" persay, but I got the full game off CDkeys the other day for 50 bucks and I'd say it's worth the money.
