The difference between an arcade speedrunner like Mitch and a console speedrunner like Jobst is the complexity of the games. In Donkey Kong, it's all about going to the pub, getting wasted with friends, and seeing how far you can get in a 4 hour session of Donkey Kong. That's a social activity, you could do that for years and never burn out.

Goldeneye/Perfect Dark Speedrunning is about sitting alone, in a dark basement, spending literal days awake trying to run the same level over and over again to sub .0005 seconds off so the rounding function inside of the console decides you got the next nearest second, never knowing your actual progress because the game doesn't let you know how many tenths of a second you saved. And if any of the 30+ guards in a level decide to jump left instead of right, you're restarting the whole thing and doing it all over again.

Now, look at that and tell me that isn't absolute hell.
