I hope RE5 proves remake-proof. Shooting Africans is just too central to the game to fix in accordance with modern political sensibilities. You'd have to replace every mob with some kind of generic zombie rotted beyond racial identifiers, cut out the entirety of the tribal village levels, the African ruin levels... And that's on top of uglifying Sheva, Jill, and Excella. You can get away with minimal fan backlash when you just turn one female character into a shapeless ogre, but three, one of which is only popular due to having her giant tiddies flopping about in a skimpy dress? And oh boy, you better change the placement of the mind control device on Jill, because putting it onto her chest for Chris to grab is PROBLEMATIC.

Overall, I think it's too much work, and too much of it just can't be removed without compromising the experience. For a game that's supposed to sell on nostalgia, they'd have to go too far for their fans to tolerate.
