I got DAYZ Deluxe Edition after seeing the news for the new map, I'm also wondering about these DLCs as a buddy of mine gave me his old gaming PC so I'm going through the games everyone has played for years, are any of these worth grabbing? Mainly looking at them for the co-op content. Oh and Robocop, if anyone can give their opinion on that.

I recently built a new PC and I wanted to play something newer but then I realized I've probably already played the decent (for me) tittles released after 2019 so based on some new and old tittles I like I chose pic related. I'm also trying to slip in something new from some genres I'm really not interested in, just in case something surprises me like E33 did (still not grinding that after beating the main story though. I've changed my mind about getting Heat Signature since from reviews it seemed like a game that lasts only for a little bit before you put it down forever
I realized I've never played the Styx games and I like stealth, so I was thinking of getting them. But also saw Abandon Ship which seems cool, I loved FTL and it's apparently similar. Alpha Centauri is just there in case I have 2.5 euro left over, I already have it on GOG
So what I need help in is deciding between both Styx games + centauri, or just Abandon Ship, because I have 6.75 in my wallet from selling shit over the past couple months and I don't feel like topping up more cash, it's not like I don't have a backlog anyways. Any opinions?

Anyone know any games that are basically self-contained worlds/dioramas, with a bunch of things going on that you can just idle in?

I played Escape Simulator and some of the custom maps sort of fit the bill, just cozy environments to chill inside and some small puzzles, but I've nearly exhausted all the good custom maps.

I was looking at some of the DLC maps for Walkabout Mini Golf VR and it's pretty much what I'm talking about. Cozy 3D immersive environments that you can explore, only problem is it's VR exclusive (I have no VR) and also it's expensive as fuck, one of those games with tons of DLC and the entire bundle is like $80.

I'm looking cozy environments, comfy ambient music/sound effects, and at least the illusion that there are things going on in the greater world. 2D games can sometimes fit the bill like Wayward Strand, but I'd prefer 3D environments. I actually already have several of these games on my backlog Lake/Eastshade/Alba/The Norwood Suite.

Another sort of game similar to what I'm looking for is stuff like Big Walk which isn't out yet, but it's basically going to be an awesome hiking sim with liminal rural spaces.

Anyone know any games that are great to idle in and free to explore at your leisure? Obviously you can idle in big RPGs like Witcher and Hogwarts Legacy, but they're usually designed with quests in mind which sometimes give an unwelcome feeling of urgency and impinge on the natural settings somewhat.

But I like anime trash and boomer shooters. I probably don't need Wizardry and Elminage at the same time and won't play them back to back, but 50% is a good deal. I'm a little on the fence about Wizardry in general, I've heard it's super unforgiving. More so than Elminage, which was tough but manageable when I played it on the PSP.

I don't know about idle, but Majesty games are about indirectly supporting adventurers, who wander around solving fantasy problems on their own.

Deadly shadows (thief 3) was good but I hated nu thief (thief 4). Styx was a solid 7 or 8 out of 10. I only played thief 1 and 2 a bit as a kid, rope arrows were cool but I dont have the patience for such a dated game nowadays.

Can also play deus ex HR or mankind divided in a very stealthy way (mankind divided was better though).

Pathologic and Northern Journey are only similiar in that they have a unique style and made by insane people. Gameplaywise completely different. I dont understand how you can think those two are the same at all. Why you think Northern Journey is something more complex than a fantasy fps in Norway is baffling. You calling it an fps, rpg and walking sim all in one makes no sense. First of all, there are no levels or skill trees or choices so RPG is out the window. Second, calling it partly walking sim would be like calling Deus Ex a walking sim in the part where there is less action. If you are trolling, you are doing a great job.

I hate the first Shadow Warrior reboot. The presentation is good, but the guns are so weak, and they get weaker the higher you set the difficulty, all because it takes 1 geological epoch to reload. Sword is the way to play, but you end up using the same two special moves, as the game spawns the same spongy summoners and ogres.

Assuming you've been attracted to Amalur by the combat, the closest thing to it is Darksiders 2. More of a linear action campaign, so only characters apply, but it has a scenic world, a variety of challenges, and a fantastic ost by Jesper Kyd.

The game is an undoubted masterpiece, doubly impressive considering the budget and the size and experience of the studio. The soundtrack is really nice, the worldbuilding has some great creations, a decent chunk of quests are fun and the combat didn't grow stale. On the other hand it is undoubtedly also slavjank. The deeper you get into the game, especially as you enter act 2 and exit the early access-tested region, the more you will encounter bugs, missing voice lines, quests that are 100% combat and felt rushed, immersion breaks, and more. Not to mention the fact that Arthur becomes eerily silent in the latter two acts, whilst he had something to say about nearly everything in act 1.
