He named his company Pirate Software specifically to try to make it harder for people to pirate stuff, in the hopes that his studio shows up first in searches that include "how to pirate software" etc.

nobody said that and post support ≠ releasing the source code
People can still play Rising Storm: Vietnam 2 today even though it officially became abandonware in 2022 and devs never released the sauce code

The """DRM""" he put in is just an IF check, same as every other steam publisher puts in their games to check if user uses steam. He is a fraud liar.

it might be puny but it still is a form of DRM
if he was really about "liberating" software he'd sell his game on GOG completely DRM free like CD Projekt does but he doesn't and that's for a reason

>Cause your next game is based on that source code?
This is literally the only valid argument I have seen, and it's still only valid for a minority of games where they churn out the same games over and over, like FIFA or CoD.

One of the most popular videos on Mr. Robot is this idiot talking about how he hates it because they included an hackathon easter egg that """he""" had something to do with without his permission (he, in fact, had nothing to do with it). He, of course, has never watched the show.
My hatred for him started then and there.

Leaving all trolling aside, as a software engineer, your next product absolutely is based on the architecture of the last product. Especially if it's something like server infrastructure

If there's nobody around to maintain roads, it's not up to the manufacturer to convert your car to 4WD.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Piratesoftware. His humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of game development most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Thor's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depth of his jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Piratesoftware truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Thor's existencial catchphrase "What am I supposed to do for you," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their monitors. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Piratesoftware tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The most ardent advocates for DRM and IP law are usually the people with the most thinly veiled derivatives.
Nintendo with their Popeye knockoff, George Lucas with his Flash Gordon knockoff, 50 shades of grey (literally just Twilight fanfic), basically any Donut Steel fan character, etc.

It's like providing the firmware to hardware as a download. You're not selling the server software, you're selling the game.

>The ending of "Mr. Robot" reveals that the character Elliot Alderson is not who he believed himself to be; instead, he is a projection of his subconscious known as "The Mastermind." The series finale explores Elliot's dissociative identity disorder and concludes with him awakening to the reality of his life, having been trapped in an illusory world created by his own mind.

aka it was all a dream lmao
