>>714075547 (OP)You fuckers know what's coming if you vote for this petition right? You know the consequences of inviting the government to intervene in the video games, knowing full well and probably lived through the 90s to 2000s where it was full of paranoid and delusional old men trying to dictate the rules and censor the fuck out of everything right? This is going to be even worse than that because now you have those same old men who now see the monetary incentive to fuck shit up and you fuckers are straight up kicking and screaming to come save you.
This won't be the government salvation you guys are hoping for, this won't even be the corpo vs government clash either, this will come entirely at your expense. They WILL fuck your shit up, anyone that has been around long enough knows not to trust the government and it's appalling to me that none of you can see Ross as the glowie that he clearly is. Why else would he go to such lengths to push this shit and throw on a full mask under the guise of caring for destroyed games? Why else has there been such a massive outbreak of supposed ecelebs throwing their weight into this all of the sudden when the natural response was to veer as far away as possible from this clear glowie psy op? They know now that they can get some headway and they've been going into overdrive to push for this and you idiots are falling for it.
If there's any among you that still possesses a brain, I implore you to not sign this shit. Don't give it attention, don't give it any time of day. This shit has so many malicious layers to it that it would be wise to not interact with it at all, and to say nothing on the long term ramifications against the average consciousness should it go through. Do you really believe that you aren't throwing away your personal information for the government to "leak away" in a year's time when this is over?

But that's basically what modern digital consumers have to deal with.
As a libertarian, determining who owns what is a necessary function of government, and a proper application of property rights absolutely needs to be applied to digital property. At the moment, copyright law is built for 90s bootleggers when the only way to take away someone's media was to enter his house and physically seize the tape/cartridge/etc.. Consumers need more protection than a goddamn bootlegger.

In spirit, I support the idea that once games have reached their end-of-life, it should be given over to the consumer to maintain and preserve. This would mean handing over everything the devs have on the game.
In practice, copyright law and maybe patent law might cause some complications. Someone still owns the software used in the game, and if they don't want to hand it over, that's it. Additionally, modern games all use modern 3rd party software that might also need replacements and who knows if that's going to work.
Surprisingly we're actually on track to match or surpass yesterday.

>>714081975>NAPHoly shit please don't tell me you're one of those lmao. You have no rights without government, and the NAP amounts to little more than a handshake deal so it would 100% be violated in your hypothetical libertarian paradise. The only difference is that without laws to fall back on, you'd have no recourse against those more powerful than you. And if you're going to pretend that there would be a legal structure in place to preserve the NAP and enforce actions against those who violate it, that makes you both a hypocrite and a retard since you'd just be arguing in favor of an objectively less useful government at that point.
And even if there were no government, you'd still be reliant on certain socological realities that come with money and power, which would function as a de facto government until the powers-that-be of that system just decided to go back to having an ACTUAL government, since it's way more profitable for them and they get greater social control that way. Regardless of how you feel about it, the reality is that you will always be under the control of a system greater than yourself, so it's better to participate in a democratic, pro-consumer civilization than to just leave it to the 'free market'.

If you try to input same data twice, they will just request a new token with data you provided, see that they already have this token in DB and reject the attempt. And because UUID is hash, it is not “personal data” as it is impossible to reverse to get the data that will trace back to you in any way

>>714085684That's actually a subject of heavy study in the field of economics. The concept of "the poor pay more." Since people who lives close to the poverty line tend not to buy products with a higher initial price tag, they wind up spending more money overall than a wealthier individual who can simply afford a longer-lasting piece of equipment. It's a mechanism that widens wealth gaps and regulation is one of the means to address this where possible.

I don’t even disagree with you that this is a right that people should have. But there is a tremendous difference between human rights, the unalienable rights man receives from God that are universal everywhere at all times, and the rights that we expect our government to extend to citizens as part of the social contract.
