I've beat him for the first time in Tri a few weeks ago and he has like 3 moves in the water. On land he's just a regular snake dragon monster with nothing special to it. Some would call this fight boring.

He's great in base difficulty, but Tempered is really awful. The fight doesn't even work properly because you practically can't wound him, but the entire underwater segment is...about wounding him.
I also don't really understand why they arbitrarily restrict your upwards and downwards movement underwater forcing you to move vertically by pressing R1 or R2. It's actually more clunky than Gen 3 underwater.
Seregios is as mid as always and his gear also seems pretty trash.

You know I don't mind wilds, it's obviously one of the worst MHs to come but it's still a solid 7.5/10 game. But there is one thing that bothers me and that's the whole story thing. Why are they so insistent on feeding us this garbage? Like I get it you made your first entertaining story with sunbreak and thought people wanted some AAA styled piece of junk with walk and talk sections and I also understand you you have so many walk and talk sections because you failed so hard with the level design and hunt design this is the only way to can force people to engage with the levels. The whole of Sunbreak is set in and around the ruins of a settlement that Gaismagorm completely destroyed and the giant gaping hole it opened up, not to mention it being the source of the Qurio which are up there with Frenzy as an ecosystem-destroying threat. Ala, nuFatalis, even Safi, Kulve and Allmother were solid, Gais felt like a downgrade and he isn't really that big. There are some monsters like old Amatsu that were only interesting in the last 1/3 of the fight, but most people didn't even saw his last phase more than once if at all.

It's neither a spectacle nor memorable fight. What pisses me off the most is, it's also a huge waste of potential.
The fight should be backwards.

This is coming from a hunter who has nearly 3000hrs accumulated across 5 generations of the series. A hunter who has loved and adored Monster Hunter since MH:Tri.

I so wanted to see TU2 as the "WE'RE BACK BAYBEE!" update and be able to say to others "Okay, this is what we're supposed to have had. Fuck these naysayers."

But all TU2 turned out to be is nothing but a giant shit sandwich. Seregios is beyond fucking slow, the attacks are so easily telegraphed, the bleed might as well not even exist, he hits like a wet paper bag being thrown at the hunters face and has the HP pool to prove it.

Lagi is just a visually more striking monster. Nothing much has changed, his attacks are easily dodged/mitigated when on land, and while he might have just a tiny bit more HP than Seregios, much of that HP pool is just padded by the horrendous underwater segment that is SOMEHOW worse than MH:Tri's underwater combat.

Nothing about this update is worth coming back to. And as much as it pains me as an avid and long-time hunter to say, I CAN say that this update has effectively killed Wilds for me.

Wake me up when the expansion is around the corner, then wake me up a year after that when the slow-as-turtle-shit content drip-feed is nearing its end.

Wilds is fucking garbage, and I despise that I've held out as long as I have to turn my back on it.

The shader cache corruption aside, I was having some weird fps dips every 30 seconds or so, when my GPU would drop in activity. I wasn't being bottlenecked or anything. Dunno if it was on my part. But after this update and installing the latest drivers, it seems to be fine. There was a scare going around the net about new(ish) Nvidia drivers being bugged and potentially frying your GPU. And I DID notice some artifacts around that time playing MH and another game. But I think it had actually something to do with my video cables. I've been trying Seregios hunts all night to see how it is and yeah the average Wilds player is a complete shitter. In my about 13 attempts I met with triple carting players in all of them. Not a single successful hunt in all of those attempts.

Monster Hunter never had good graphics. Even World ran terribly and looked massively outdated on release. Rise and Sunbreak have disgusting zone based color filters and massively cheaped out geometry. The most hilarious thing is going to the command base in Elgado and you see mostly crisp textures but then the fucking carpet inexplicably looks like it has negative textures.

I'm also not a fan of how hard it is to break parts for a lot of Tempered monsters this time around. Older MH has a really good push-and-pull, where you hung on for dear life until you broke something that weakened the monster; wings, or legs, or horns; or, in Lagi's case, his back so that he's not supercharged all the time. Most of Tempered Lagi's difficulty comes from him being charged up for most of the fight.

I feel like in the pursuit of harder difficulty, or perhaps because the Hunters are just so strong, that kind of mechanic was kind of lost. It still exists somewhat, but it's almost not even worth pursuing. I guess the wounds were meant to make up for that, but it's not the same.
