The issue is that those peaks are rarer and rarer with every passing month, and the site as a whole has been infested with the absolute lowest common denominato demographicsr: porn-addicted SEAfags, retards obsessed with Steam metrics, contrarian schizoids, /pol/fags, and genuine morons who wouldn't have even bothered with the internet in the aughts. 4chan is ultimately a form of "social media" and is not insulated from any of the cultural trends that are rotting people's brains everywhere else on the internet, including outrage culture and porn addiction.

Add in the fact that the site is simply NOT moderated for rules OR quality 99% of the time, and you have modern 4chan. Boards, threads, and alternative sites with things like actual moderation and thread IDs prove that it isn't impossible to improve the situation.

I can pull up a subreddit like shittyfoodporn or megalophobia and sort by top of the week to instantly get something good in that category.
