During psone era everyone in Brazil only had the option to buy pirated games, so this one came as a gift when I bought Deep Freeze (probably because it was a tactical rpg in japanese and nobody would ever buy it). I tried to play it A LOT because i used to love FFT and Hoshigami, but man, it was hard playing without understanding a single fuck of what was happening.

It has the same hub+mission structure and giant monster hunting as Monster Hunter, and you command Pikmin-like creatures that can help you in battle and exploit monster's elemental weaknesses. Now, the gameplay is very experimental and the game doesn't really tell the player shit (like for instance it doesn't tell you what the monsters elemental weaknesses are), but it's worth a try at least.

The game I generally post in those threads is Tori no Hoshi: Aerial Planet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYUjJoEwL00

One of those weird games that needed a second iteration it will sadly never get. You're a boy stranted on an alien planet populated with giant birds, trying to fly back to the main ship, using the bird migrations to find routes hoping from island to island.
Very nice.

Summoner 2, it's a third person RPG. the main gimmick is your character is a Summoner and can turn into these fuck huge monsters with different powers. but you also have other party members you can control with their own quirks, like a warrior, a rogue who can stealth kill enemies, a wizard, etc. it has some pretty interesting high fantasy/science fantasy type stuff too like you get a sort of steampunk android party member later on, you travel to the cosmic higher planes or whatever the fuck. really unique setting, a shame they never made a sequel.

tough pick between witch's wish, the overlord ds game, and the power rangers Dino thunder gamecube game. chose with's wish since it's the most nostalgic to me. very cozy game with a great soundtrack.
the power rangers game is a close second, wasn't really much to it other than playing a giant robot dinosaur and destroying stuff but that's more than enough for a kid. it was pretty cool how they included several bonus maps and zords based on earlier power ranger series, game had a lot heart put into it.
the overlord ds game was pretty whatever, just a little strategy game with an overlord look put over it. I just love the overlord series and think it's neat that it had a ds game.

Summoner 2 was absolute peak - the amount of side content in that game was insane.

I just wish there was a bit more 'game' after you go to the Perduellion/Unseen world.

Also the bit where you can access the offices of the devs and read about their thoughts/feelings makes me genuinely fucking sad, I miss Volition and I miss the culture that used to exist behind games.
