I wish I could get an unused GameCube today. Wanted to get one for SSBM when it first came out when I was a kid but chose to get an Xbox instead for DOA3.

I still can't believe they didn't include a good party game like Mario Party or something. Who gives a fuck about racing? What else can you do in that game? Nothing. Nothing but racing. At least in Wii Sports you had a variety of mini-games. The fucking upgraded 60FPS Zelda games should also be free with the console if you had the original version on Switch 1. Why even make these retarded decisions?

Switch 2 already won, you will be paying $450 for it in 8 years too. Maybe $400.

Will it have more games in 8 years? Because I'm not going to buy one without a new Zelda and a new Fire Emblem.

Best I can do is Oracle remakes in the LA/EoW style.

Since Nintendo is in full shareholders mode they should capitalize on the peak GameCube nostalgia right now and do a run of like a few million new GameCubes. They donโ€™t even need to make the games since people just buy those on eBay. maybe make a few different colors you can order or buy. This might sound dumb now but considering all GameCubes today are two decades old collectors will probably buy these to ensure they have a working model twenty years from now and normies would buy them just to have them especially if they never had a GameCube and now they can get one new in box.

Holy shit armchair CEOs are retarded.
Every Wii and Wii U can already run GC games (yes even the Wiis that can't read GC disks directly).
And they're heavily pushing the GC NSO app right now.
Any additonal way to play GC games cuts into NSO+ Subscriptions.
Personally I'd love reprints of GC grail games like Cubivore, but that's not going to happen.
Note also that the NES/SNES Classic Editions coincidentally stopped the moment the Switch was released with its NSO apps.

Reminder that the roms are out there, Nintendo could easily make roms legal like the music industry made streaming services but they rather stay with Showa Era Japan copyright laws.

Yes i realize a Wii can play any GameCube game to the effect that some people suggest buying a Wii classic over a GameCube. No one cares about or owns a Wii U so that part of your argument is irrelevant.

there are a lot of people that like the GameCube or have some sort of weird respect for it simply because itโ€™s the GameCube and they like it for what it is. It was the very last Nintendo console that attempted to directly compete with the other companies and didnโ€™t rely on a stupid gimmick like motion controls or having multiple modes of use.

Youre talking about reprinting discs now which is a totally different issue and not what I suggested. Many people would be content just having the console to show it off especially if it was a unique color way. They can get the games on ebay. And if they did reprint a game, which Iโ€™m not suggesting they do, Nintendo could probably print money by making a bundle which is a new GameCube packed with a reprint of melee (seems like the game with the largest weird obsessed audience on the console) and maybe something like Pikmin or whatever. I donโ€™t really care.

The audience of people who would spend like 300-400 on a brand new GameCube is not the audience that they will lose who is just signing up to digitally play games. the average person is going to sign up for like 6 months or one year maybe of the online game service and stop because there is a lack of games.

also there is an untapped audience of people who really doesnt care about Nintendo and the switch and switch 2 and will never buy one and Nintendo will never get a cent from those people. But many of those people collectors or otherwise would pay for a functioning GameCube even if itโ€™s simply a thing they just stick on a shelf somewhere. Basically free money.

it isnโ€™t even a Nintendo argument, Sony or Microsoft could do the same thing. Nintendo could even do it with something as simple as the gameboy SP or the DSlite.

Let's see adjusted with inflation....
>$99 in 2003 = $175 in 2025
>Gamecube launch price: $199 ($360 today)

The $99 price tag for the Gamecube was announced 2 years after the console's release. A desperate attempt by Nintendo to sell the console and to brake the exponential gap in sales compared to the Sony Playstation 2.

If Switch 2 flops, $175 switch is possible in 2027.
