Just get used to it. It's really not hard because it's so fucking accessible now. You can do a dozen offsets in a hunt, many more if you're in multiplayer. If you missed it in the patch notes, doing the charge step thing with your crutch claw while charging makes it instantly charge the hammer to the first level, so your upswing is always doable on demand. And the fact that the upswing moves you forward unlike the other offsets in the game makes it a billion times easier to maneuver it into any attack.

Did you delete your shader cache from the last update? I mean, it should update them when the game/driver updates anyway, but apparently there was some shader cache corruption and they said it's better to do it manually.
Towards the end of the last patch I had that issue when the game started lagging when I first loaded into a new area, especially if I started turning the camera around quickly. I guess, that's because the cache was corrupted, and it had to constantly recompile shaders of the fly. But it's fine now.

I am playing OG PS2 MH1(US) and almost done with the 4 star town quests. Didn't know you needed the JP version to do the online ones, oh well. The grind is really fucking retarded in certain aspects but I like the environments and the SOUL. Not a fan of the thumbstick controls but it's manageable. My only other MH game is Rise. It's very interesting seeing the smaller monsters being a tangible threat, I also like the comfy running around manually instead of having a mount even though I miss the palamutes

I wanted to try the first one as the original version to appreciate the QoL since then but I will probably try different versions of Dos and Tri, maybe Freedom 2 and ultimate for 3, haven't decided yet. And will probably end with GU since most people seem to like that for the sheer amount of content. Honestly if there's one thing I wouldn't mind them going back to is the segmented areas. You could make very beautiful environments because you wouldn't have to render literally everything like in Wilds and the smaller areas are so muchmore graphically "bounded".
