Game is somewhat linear. You have the entrance to a layer and you have an exit. The path to the exit is easy to follow, but generally you'll need to complete another objective before being able to even get to the exit. Skills help with making things faster, but aren't needed to complete the game at all. I agree that E33 is vidya Oscarbait but if you think it's an autistic rpg with a classic design you're on crack. the main quest never pushes you to learn the turn based stuff or mess around with the lumina synergies even on the highest difficulty. all it forces you to actually engage with are the parry timings. two years from now none of the bots shilling E33 are going to remember a single turn based mechanic from any of the fights along the critical path, the only thing they'll be able to tell you about if you ask them about the game will be the attack strings and how they had a really weird parry timing and how some stuff they HAD to dodge and how they loved jump moves because they were easy. they won't talk about the main story challenges like an rpg, they'll talk about it the way people talk about souls bosses.

It has a few hundred different lumina to mix and match with tons of weapons that are effectively different classes. It's pretty autistic.
And the overworld is a very classic element. As is the three party members in a row and the game being turnbased at all.

I admit that the game is somewhat easy but that doesn't exactly invalidate my claims. And for most of the game you can still skip ahead to challenge threats way ahead of the difficulty curve, and that does offer some decent level of challenge at least.
Defeating the Gargant before either of the Axons is pretty difficult. As is defeating the Sprong while still in Act2 etc etc.
Sadly all of act3 is kind of piss easy since the difficulty threats kind of stops scaling even after your own power just keeps escalating to the stars and beyond.
I don't buy the idea though that it's not autistic or that builds or whatever don't matter just because you could technically beat the entire game at level 1 and with no skills or lumina equipped. No matter how good your parrying skills are, good builds and strategies will still have a significant effect on how effective you are.
