You misunderstand the point of a CEO. A CEO is a position someone is put in for the singular purpose of increasing stock prices. That's it. It's all for shareholder profits. This is the devil people sell their souls to when a company goes public.

It's not that it's corrupt, it's that they only ever pull the levers that increase investor confidence. This guy made the stock prices go up for a long time. They'd rather blame a down year on something else and show the investors that they're willing to keep him around.
That's retarded, of course, but it's how they think. The product doesn't matter as long as the number keeps going up, because no one invests for dividends or a good product anymore, they invest with the express intent of divesting at the peak and laughing all the way to the bank. And all companies can do to avoid a fate like that is to keep growing perpetually, and beat inflation at that.

Why wouldn't they profit out of their company's failures?
You say as if they would ever need to "work" a single day again in their lives if the company fails.
And have in mind something, if the shareholders didn't approve of CEOs doing this, they wouldn't do it, but every single time some activist shareholder tries to push back on this, they all vote in favor of the pay rise.

Actually, it does. Because we live in the digital age. The junk doesn't take up shelf space. The junk is filtered. Maybe you see an ad for it once or twice, but you already see ads for tons of other crap you care less about. Its a stock company that produces video games. All companies that deal with stocks live and die by them. The company has only one goal and that is to increase the value of shares.
Product success is only part of share value for a company this huge. Besides, EA is like Ubisoft, they are primarily propaganda machines, almost branches from governments, that's why they cant fail commercially unless they do so critically.
Che the history of these companies and government subsidies & tax credits

CEOs are leaders but they aren't the bosses. The bosses in a public company is the Board of Directors. The role of a CEO is to run the company and make sure the value of the company grows. That's it. People think CEO are some Dictator that makes sures everything goes to SHIT and don't understand why they get paid so much when they make shit. They get paid based on Performance Metrics imposed upon him by the Board. If he meets his metrics he gets bonus. We don't know what are his KPIs but if he hits bonus it means the Board approves his job.

Xbox: Complete collapse of Xbox brand. Barely hanging on with Live.

Because it is extremely difficult to find something who would do the same quality of work for less. If you tell him how about I pay you 500k instead he'll go to a different company that pays him $30m.
Also his base salary is less than 2m and the rest are performance based bonuses, but that's beyond the point.

Most of the big companies would suffer, which would mean that the people directly working for the big companies would suffer, which would also mean that all the companies who work with the big companies would suffer and the people who work for them.
Might crush the economy and lead to mass death.

Those people get paid a lot because they are hard to replace. That's how getting paid works in the real world. If your boss can just yell into a crowd and find 5 people to do your job? Shit pay. If your boss is scared that you might leave because he wouldn't know what to do? Good pay.

Selling shit is a core biz skill. Are you even trying?

Cultivating, growing and pruning a social network of people in the right positions with the right skills and right personalities is ALSO a skill.

We can actually see this in action, by comparing say Andrew Wilson, with shittier multinational CEOs, like say David Calhoun or Carly Fiona. All equally soulless, but there's a very obvious skill gap.

EA gets shat on, and deservedly so, but keep some perspective, and compare it to the rest of the pack.

Bobby Kotick was very open about what he was about, and his strategy. It also turned out he was RIGHT about some of the great creatives not being able to make a functional product.

He was correct in that the more profitable path was to make brand names that you could make money year after year, rather than taking risks every dev cycle with a new game and brand.

He also loved money so much that he wouldn't let employees hijack his projects for political garbage. You could make all sorts of games under his watch, and go around sexually assaulting people, but your shit had to make money.

Andrew wilson was a jock who leveraged that into EA sports, and that's where he shines. But he doesn't know shit or give a shit about other areas, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it allows problems to fester.

Hell, so many American firms are in this situation.

Mere balance sheet bullshit just leads to a sudden shock when an asset is audited to find they don't have ANY real value. If you don't do this, you have hyperinflation btw. That's what's driving inflation right now.

I need to check their sheet more. I've been putting it off for too long. Thing is, I've already known they're likely to have some horseshit because so many corps are like this post gfc.

My biggest worry is Chinese firms. They're probably even worse than US firms. But it's the entire global economy at this stage because nobody has done shit about it. Instead they've used AI and media manipulation to fix any potential "public relation" issue to pretend things are fine. If they don't, their perceived risk dramatically rises.

You know "too big to fail"? This is the real basis for that. If you point out the reality of these firms, the economy collapses.

Well no, but it is usually an indicator IF their actual produce is shit and their revenue is purely reliant on alternative means to the sale their main products. That being said, asset diversification is how most people brunt against bullshit if their products start to suck. The problem is - they can only do that so much before it impacts their own stock price and it's at that point when it REALLY starts to hurt the corporation.

I need to open me dusty books. Haven't gone over this shit in ages.

I'm pulling K-1's right now, and I'm honestly not seeing it. EA sports is making money. People are spending money on Sims. They've got some small projects like Split fiction that are fine, even if their originals are shaky. Their free to play and phone shit is making money.

There's definitely puffery as expected, but they're diversified enough that I don't see them eating shit, regardless of who wins or loses. Apple, Android. N Sony, Xbox, PC. Steam. EA can make money on that.

Exactly what the fuck are you talking about?

There's a disturbing number of people that get a kick out of going to hospitals for any old condition, and even when they don't just for the hell of it. according to EA

We derive revenue principally from sales of our games, and related extra content and services that can be experienced on game
consoles, PCs, mobile phones and tablets. Our product and service offerings include, but are not limited to, the following:
• full games with both online and offline functionality (“Games with Services”), which generally includes (1) the initial
game delivered digitally or via physical disc at the time of sale and typically provide access to offline core game
content (“software license”); (2) updates on a when-and-if-available basis, such as software patches or updates, and/or
additional free content to be delivered in the future (“future update rights”); and (3) a hosted connection for online
playability (“online hosting”);
• full games with online-only functionality which require an Internet connection to access all gameplay and functionality
(“Online-Hosted Service Games”);
• extra content related to Games with Services and Online-Hosted Service Games which provides access to additional
in-game content;
• subscriptions, such as EA Play and EA Play Pro, that generally offer access to a selection of full games, in-game
content, online services and other benefits typically for a recurring monthly or annual fee; and

Of course not, those consumers don't have the money to get assessments of their shit. As by design in this system.
Shouldn't be the case. Corporate activities should be transparent. Only sole proprietors and individuals should have the level of privacy these corporations get, but CEOs will of course refuse that and will instead reinforce their own situation and their own private interests while utilising the information leverage they have over consumers to make sure they only buy their shit and cannot buy shit from competitors.

You could play that offline but only once you activated the game online through their servers despite being the physical disc. That was in like 2007. They shut the authentication servers for those discs down years ago forcing you to buy the game again because alllllll the way back in 2007 they were still fucking people they just have gotten increasingly efficient at it. All those CDs are worthless now and go in the trash. Literally stole your money. Why the fuck do you need to authenticate the game you bought from Walmart or target to play offline on your computer?

Isn’t this the company that kept starwars fans hostage for years because they signed an exclusive contract with Disney for the right to publish starwars games? They fucked up starwars battlefront 1 which launched with almost no content and then forced you to buy a season pass to get the content that would have been in the original starwars battlefront games release in 2005 by radical.

Then they released starwars battlefront ea 2 and it was such a greedy shit show that Germany or something outright outlawed lootboxes in videogames?

And now they don’t even bother supporting the game so the servers are all infested with hackers in every match. There is no reason to ever buy an EA title again. They do not care about the product they make they only care about maximizing profits and scamming people.

It's a cute thought but what is the purpose of public transparency when there's no method to enforce any accountability? What's the purpose of preventing "criminal activity" when the law is written by the people doing said activity? Of course the whole thing is a racket, all the regulatory minutiae is for the big players in power to prevent other people from doing the same shit they did to get there. I'm not saying you're wrong about anything, just that it's so silly to think that being more transparent would fix anything when it's been blatantly obvious from the start

These faggots are flat out in denial they are a mere racket destroying everyone's lives out of mere sunk cost.
Enforcement should be transparent too. Anything to destroy this use of people as guinea pigs and the murder of millions/billions for the sake of this racket cult.

>What's the purpose of preventing "criminal activity" when the law is written by the people doing said activity?
So you even agree that it's a racket feudal regime?

You guys up top can just agree to stop this?
Why not do that?
Otherwise, what's the point of any auditing or corporations in general at that stage?
Isn't a corporation just there to get public individuals to cooperate and actually pool money to establish something that requires a larger pool of capital?
Or is it just a handshake to get into the secret club now that destroys the quality of produce and merely enslaves people?

What is the point of the corporation if it's not to pool money for the benefit of the economy and it's own interests on an individual investor level? Is it just masochism at this stage and cultish denial-ism of the rapid decline in quality of produce within corporations and the economy in general?

It's just a racket. It's literally killing themselves too by existing.

Our system already does this... accidentally kek. Well the legislation part anyway, not the enforcement.
You have corporations acts that make all their behaviour likely an offence at this stage.

Yet it does nothing. It doesn't stop them.
The enforcement INSTEAD chooses to ignore corporations and go for the easy prey, the individual. Why? No financial leverage to counteract the enforcement in a court of law.
So our system has become a mere racket at this stage.

Oh man it's even worse than that. They'll just price their assets completely wrong on sheets to make their asset pools seem better for the sake of risk assessments giving them a good credit rating.
This is why complete transparency should be mandatory in a corporate world.

Maybe if we just got rid of the enforcement, period, and just relied on collective enforcement and vigilantism?
>enter mercenaries leveraged by corporations with larger pools of free capital
Now you know why the enforcement existed in the first place.

Society, where there are many individuals cooperating, is forever doomed to be an enslaving mechanism of individual humans for this reason. At first it will benefit through the pooling of resources, only to fall to an entropy of that benefit to the point where it will start to impede the benefit of having the corporate entity or social organisation exist.

These guys only care about maximizing profits to please their shareholders so they can get a large bonus every year. They do not care about the garbage they produce or the hundreds of thousands of people they scam and disappoint. What the fuck do these guys even do with all of that money that drives them to do this scumbag shit year after year? the analogy would be like playing an MMO game and you already got everything you wanted and you can’t get anything more. Why would you keep playing the game year after year grinding for more money? Is it fucking autism?

Ea was arguably turning into a shitty company before the dude even joined all he did was triple down in their scumbag tactics. If EA had gone out of business who cares? The overwhelming majority of games they put out are shit and if you are going to get a half decent experience that’s going to require you to buy all the supplementary DLC which means you are buying one game for the price of 3. In the long run the best thing would have been for them to just go out of business and whatever IPs they worked on would go to other studios.

You're literally just envious.
There are plenty of rich people deserving of contempt, but to be prejudiced against an entire class of people because they are successful is pathetic.

>number goes up more than ever
i literally do not understand how a ceo stands in a room full of 100 year olds and explains to them that selling less games every year is actually good. the ps5 now has 2 versions, that have sold monumentally worse than the ps1, back when sony had 4 dollars to spend, and banked their whole console on square enix. every single company that kept sony alive is currently on their way out through mass retardation, and californication.

Like the Soviets, his government caused the famine in their ill-conceived reallocation of land and resources.
They claim there was an entirely "coincidental" drought for which they can offer no contemporaneous evidence, but countless testimonies and all credible evidence put fault on the CCP.
