The biggest loss of using one of these adapters, at least on the one i got is that you can't do 240p.
Other than that, it is as sharp as the snes i got, and arguably a LOT sharper than something like a mega drive.

You can set these boxes to 640x480, and 720x480 that fits the overscan even better.
But i had the best luck using 1280x960, as it can handle shit like 256x224 without distorting the picture.

You will have to take my word for it, but on the actual screen, these shadows are stippled and i can see the pixels clearly, but as soon i take a picture with it.

I was thinking about replaying FFX on my modded PS2 and CRT to see if my opinion has changed on it at all, as I didn't really like the game when I played it originally. but I've been so busy with other games like FFT and JSRF(first time ever playing it, fun game if a bit clunky) not pictured is my original xbox which is on a side table next to the TV, and my sega genesis which is sitting in a plastic bin because I don't have an S-video cord for it yet.

On modern GPUs, with some effort and converters. Older CPUs had an S-Video output you could plug into the TV's composite connector, or a VGA-to-component adapter, and get native output.

The display is the most trivial aspect when experiencing the "real thing". Choosing CRT is pure masochism at this point and a step in the retro autism direction.
Real console, original system controller and real disc is the real experience.
Grab a GBSC, OSSC Pro or Retrotink (for deinterlacing and scaling... it even comes with scanlines) and plug your console on a oled display for the best response and image quality possible.

For older gens I prefer shadowMask = "7.000000" but due to scaling issues that I'm to retarded to fix this produces weirdly spaced scanlines at least on 1080p. I also leave out the interm at the end since the default setting is okay for the retro era emulators but if it erroneously gets switched on for LRPS2 or PPSSPP it will just add extra blur

Nevermind all the arguments about "pixel this" and "resolution that," what you see displayed on your television used to have a much higher artistic standard. People developed games to look presentable. To look like provoking characters. To look like infatuating scenery. And they hired, and paid, people to do it.
