Is anyone else here old enough to remember the Nintendo hate train from the early 2000s? There were so many articles and forum discussions from those days, absolutely shitting on Nintendo, and confidently predicting that they would end up failing in the console AND handheld market, and Sony / Microsoft were the future.

Funny to think about looking back.

mostly irrelevant echo chambers
the hardware was fine for most, people did complain about the controller but that's it
the games make the console not the other way around

On the GameSpot forums back in 2001, it was basically GameCube vs Xbox. You had the same Digital Foundry nonsense where people were posting the hubcaps of cars in PGR going "This is why Microsoft wins!" And all the GameCube people were super-chill and basically looking forward to Pikmin.
There was also a subset of weeb hipsters who basically hated GTA and everything it stood for.
Kind of miss those days.

But the Gamecube WAS kind of a mess. People predicting it would be the end of Nintendo were being overly dramatic, that doesn't mean it didn't have problems. How do you think they wound up deciding to sell it for $100? For fun?
>but the switch 2 is selling so well, and look at how people talk about it
If you haven't noticed the median consumer IQ dropping by about 50 points in the last two decades you're beyond help.
