I'm still updating from the previous playtests. Here's to hoping they let you skip the damn tutorial that they keep overhauling every other update.

eh, a friend showed me the leaked devtest and it makes me wonder why they haven't released this yet. seemed mostly done save for textures and cosmetic stuff, which is probably what they're working on so they can squeeze money out of micro-transactions.

They already said stuff from this beta carries unlocks towards release, so I'm expecting an open-beta-for-a-year style of early access launch. Sucks that a lot of the potential MTX outfit concepts they shown in a form a year ago was all of the "Please pay $30 for this thing that stands out like a sore thumb" style of designs.

I mostly lost interest when it became known a mobile version was in the works (one of the config menus made mention of touch/Android controls), before it was initially announced, since that means they were going to build the difficulty around being playable fully on a shitty zoomer phone.

It's just fortinite with really mid skate gameplay. People are griefing two minutes in lol

Outside of dropping annoying props inside of a timed challenge, there's not much to 'grief' with. I'm still downloading the current playtest, but one thing I missed dearly were the community building areas where we collaborated on making a skyscraper's worth of parkour+ skating obstacles going up into the sky.

I guess they gave their EAC-rebrand a name finally.

In case anyone was wondering, they already added microtransactions.

The price is $6.99 for 500 units. They sell up to 130,000 units for $134.

They graciously start you off with 250. That's just enough for 1 (one) sticker. Shoes are 750. Gestures are 800. Hats are 400. Boards are 300. Wheels are 250. Tags are 100. Etc.

You cannot obtain this currency by playing the game. Instead, missions give you a secondary currency. This currency is used to buy what is essentially mystery boxes.

So if you want something, you only choices are to spend real money or grind away at mystery boxes.

Literally because they decided mid-development to support phone users, which is why the world geometry and textured areas in the current beta look worse than the polished sections of prior ones. To keep filesize down but also allow toasters to run it (a requirement for most F2P games).

I reported that about 9 months ago. Guess it takes that long to fix it. They still haven't fixed my other report of completely breaking their animation state system to the point where jumping causes the skater to immediately spin wildly out of control at Mach speed.

This has to be the most pathetic fanbase of any game desu. I never see Zoomers skate and Tony Hawk is old as fuck and still the only mainstream skater, though I'm not even sure the younger Zoomers will recognise the name. A game of 40+ year olds skating, if midlife crisis was a game this would be it.

Also when did they add pumping to this, and why the fuck is it disabled by default? It was one of the main thing lacking from earlier playtests for the longest time, including late flips (which also got added at some point). It made vert stuff aids to keep momentum without it.

Be sure to open the options menu and swap the offboard X & Square option first thing, and bump up the graphics since they defaulted to low, or at least on my setup it did (despite getting 60+ FPS on Ultra).

The whole always online vessel for microtransactions thing convinced me I should probably ignore this release. Shame they didn't just port 1-3 to PC.

Only nice thing I can say about this playtest is they made doing front/backflips during a hippie jump, and being able to land back on the board, extremely consistent compared to before where it was 50/50 if you'd land on the board.

They had them in the playtests of earlier last year. I don't know if the idea is to integrate them later (eg. game has 5hrs of solo tutorials or some shit which is how the current alpha feels), or they just dropped the idea altogether.

Honestly, I like Skater XL and Session's control scheme, it's a brilliant idea and feels amazing, but for some reason, I can do the tricks I imagine in my head and Skater XL but they made the controls in Session SO HARD for no reason. I can't grind on shit whenever I want to like in Skater XL or the other Skate games and it pisses me off.
If you've liked the flick it system from the Skate games you'll like this new skate game, the gameplay is good but it looks like fucking Fortnite with your character looking straight out of a Sims game

They used to have randomly timed public challenge events in earlier playtests too, which acted as beacons for a bunch of players to come over and do. Unfortunately the objectives were just solo, and there was no "Get within the top-8" kinda thing for score attacking against fellow skaters. Would have been a nice addition if they did.
