It's weird, I acknowledge Gen 4 designs being better than Gen 5 and more memoreable yet I just remember the world of Gen 5 way more. I like the animation better, the middle-of-the-road animated sprites were exciting and yet didn't step into low-quality 3d like Gen 6 that clearly looked inferior to even the gamecube 3d games.
There were so many events I was there for, there was that site for dream pokemon (I don't remember the name) I used all the time, there was more reason to keep playing for me.
I'm not sure if Platinum would've fixed Gen 4 feeling tedious, boring and depressing at times

BW2 had the largest regional dex at the time and had one of the best post-games in the series, I remember my team was around lvl 88 by the end of the game and I did every offline activity. it was pretty easy compared to the older games but later gens became braindead.
and the number of new pokemon... gen 6 and 7 combined barely exceed the amount of gen 5 mons

Gen 5 had smooth gameplay and graphics, but the region itself had a boring design to it and the new pokemons were rethreads of pokemon that already existed causing bloat. Still gen 5 is the last good generation as everything that came after it was utter garbage. Gen 4 with plat and hgss will always be the best to me and the only games I still play

I remember playing gen V when it leaked and you needed a translation patch. It was great then and BW2 was even better but I was also a lot younger back then. I remember loving all of Sinnoh, Pearl included but then when I replayed Platinum recently I didn't like it anywhere near as much.

The people who played it and enjoyed it when it was new became a louder voice on the internet then the now nearly 40 year old genwunners who complained about it not being gen 1 again for the fifth time. I noticed genwunning in particular has become a lot less common over time anyway, probably because the franchise has pandered to them so hard over the last decade but also because I feel like a lot of the youtubers or other influencers who used to spout that shit back in the day fell out of favour. If you look online for "Pokemon content" on youtube or whatever, a lot of the people making shit are actually pretty young, I was surprised to see how many competitive pokemon video makers started playing with B/W or X/Y for example.

Black and White came out in 2011 where I live though. But on your list, the only game I played was New Vegas, and I played it like 7 years later. I had a Wii and little interest in shooters or cowboys or Mario at the time I suppose.
