I have a feeling that to many people who are extremely pro-AI and "anti-artist", the peak of OC content is wojak/pepe and gigachad edits. It is why they see the ability to generate slop as some kind of extremely cool "oc". It's why the dall-e threads are full of same prompt gens with different seed.
There are no standards and not really much thought or effort in it. And the biggest problem with generative AI is the fact that you can't really make mistakes other than a typo on the prompt. You just wait your model to gen what you want. Some people inpaint or even regen with edits, but even then you cannot make a mistake.

It's the reason why I can't see sloppa as art. If I cannot make mistakes, then it really isn't me making anything. I don't need any effort. Not skill either, except the most basic eye for art and creativity(a thing like 80% of people have).
All I use sloppa for is quick refs for my degen ERP sessions.
Anyone who holds pen in their hand and draws on paper is forever a better artist than me. Same with people with tablets and phones who have the ability to create and make mistakes.

There IS a problem with AI art that people prefer just genning more low quality stuff, instead of improving and inpainting a singe good art piece, but then it's exactly a human problem, not AI problem. Good AI artists made godlike art, always check for inconsistencies and actually have graphics tablet for inpainting (yes, you need to know how to draw to make good AI art).

I have the same problem. I like trying to make a specific original character with different AI engines, just for fun and I never share it with anyone (and will not here), and while I didn't have any specific idea for the details at first, after generating enough slop I know what I want the character to be, but I can't. I recently ordered a tablet and when it arrives I plan to learn how to draw the character in my head; even if it's not as detailed or ornate as the AI can get it'll be that character and not an approximation.

It's partly a psychological issue too. Autists often post that apple picture if you've seen it and most people are leaning to the right side of that, meaning the picture they see in their mind is something very difficult to represent in reality since it's vague and undefined. There's nothing wrong with any of this, it's just normal, and I could shitpost saying it's a skill issue but it's not just that.
Also people always want to make something greater and you can see this because even the most talented artists say that the idea they had was better than the result. It just is what it is.

Most creative spirit here had died when that anal circus with reddit witchhunts started almost a decade ago, or maybe more, can't remember now. When everything started getting claimed as reddit and thus everything is bad and you shouldn't enjoy anything and just sit and whimper here about how things went to shit and it's all someone else's fault. The sole reason frogs and feelsguys persisted is because they made people mad and thus were actively used just for trolling, and any other kind of meme no longer had any place in that shitshow.
