IMO TMNT Shredder's Revenge is as solid as you can get with a beat em up game.

How is Revenge of Death Adder? I never played it of course because it was rare and for a while there MAME couldn't run it (im old, im sure it has been able to run it now for the last decade but i havent run a MAME emulator since college)

Streets of Rage 2 is still the peak.

It's the game that made me "get" beat em ups, and is simultaneously the best introduction to beat em ups, while also being one of the highest quality beat em ups just in terms of vibes/OST/atmosphere, AND also one of the most difficult and highly technical beat em ups of all time.

Nothing pumps you up and gets you in a zen state quite like SoR2. The soundtrack, artstyle, and game feel are just fucking legendary.

Capcom beat em ups really do just feel like quarter munchers, a sterile corporate product rather than a masterful work of art.

SoR was the first bmup that had legit gameplay instead of being a button masher

Guilty Gear Isuka has 2 beat-em-up modes where you'll either like them for being a unique blend of fighting game mechanics or hate them for having to press a button to turn around.

That's a game I often see listed as one of the best but it's boring as hell to me. I'm probably doing something very wrong but shit just takes way too long to die and the enemy variety is pretty low.

Fighting Force 1 is a fun psx brawler, would recommend
Capcom's beat em ups are hit or miss, call me a zoomer but Final Fight sucked ass, Cadillacs or AvP or Armored warriors are cooler games
Similar deal with Konami and it fetl like only TMNT got the good games, their other beat em ups are jank as fuck to the point of unplayability unless you master a nonsensical button input (Bucky O'Hare's special attacks are retarded). Do not skip the console stuff, The NES TMNT beat em up games are great.

Splatterhouse 1-3 are greatgames even if 1 and 2 are not on the same gameplay field as beatem ups, 2 is amazing
