I strived to work less and less during my years. Finally got a comfy 39 hours job where I do fuckall ez pz programming, with company benefits and the highest pay I've ever seen.

I was much more productive when I was younger and also played more video games.
I got lazy because I realized that nobody really gives a fuck, middle manager boomers of my office are just counting days to their retirement so they don't really give too many fucks either, and the highest boardroom boomers are so out of touch they don't have any idea about how much more work we could do but don't. As for OP's question, I don't think it makes you lazy. If anything some video games make people work harder. Sure it's all virtual, but just the fact effort is being exerted means that it isn't laziness at all.
I believe most of the negative imagery of video games comes from the fact boomers didn't really grow up with them so it's easy blame, also the association with losers doesn't help.
There are several other mediums that fall in same boat for losers. I've known some women in their late 20s that just chug through sloppy romance novels or fanfics, but because reading has a better image than video games (and the fact they are women so less is expected) they don't have the same level of scorn as guys that play vidya.

The reason people became "lazy" is because working doesn't pay off anymore. Our grandfathers were able to save up enough money to buy property within 5 years of working physical labour without living like beggars. The funny thing about all of this how that won't happen at all.

I've been self employed for 15 years. Currently I "work" 40 hours a week. But my office is my gaming computer, so if WoW is being played for 35 of those hours and no boss means making 20k a year I get all the benefits. No one comes in and checks. There is no oversight committee. All i deal with is an interview every 6 months asking if I'm still working 40 hours a week.

It's a joke. The only people effected by this are going to be dumb and innocent people.

At a certain pay level the work isn't worth it if you're not on welfare. If they make you use your personal car you're not making money. If the work is in any way hazardous to your health, you're not making any money when you factor in the eventual medical help.
