I'm not the anon you were replying to! But I'll answer your question! I don't think Dawntrail is a good expansion but there are some elements I enjoy. I like the visuals around Tural, and a lot of the music is very good. Arcadion is the best raid tier so far and I enjoyed grinding gold medals in Cosmic Exploration. Occult Crescent on the other hand was very disappointing but I like Forked Tower especially now that I can actually get into it.

Man, Monk really is barebones. I hear people talk about how boring DRK is all the time, but DRK has way more going on. They're really comparable classes - they both have an OGCD that they build up to by repeating their combo (edge vs chakra), both have a weird low impact longish ogcd (blood weapon vs perfect balance), both kind of just say in the same gcd damage mode the whole time. But I get to use edge way more often than I get to use chakra, for instance. That's on top of having mits. I wonder how they compare at 100, there's no way monk comes out substantially more complex.

I still enjoy the game, obvious issues not withstanding. Stuff like hotfixing forked tower should have been announced immediately instead of them waiting a week when they originally shunted it to a fix in 7.3. It's just all these compounding factors that add up to a bad game state. It's like a 6/10 expac and if I took away the battle/side content it'd be like a 2/10. It shouldn't have taken until 7.2 for the MSQ to start being somewhat interesting again. The foundation needs to be good to elevate the rest of the game.

Seeing ff threads on the catalog is hilarious, its a bunch of old boomer millennials hanging on to dear life with this game because they poured thousands of hours into live service vidya instead of actual vidya and the sunk cost keeps em there. The game is going down hill (according to all my friends that play it, its really bad, but apparently last patch had some decent positives like the story). The actual problem though is they are all addicted, they have "houses" I dont know how this system works but it seems like they cant detach from said house and need to keep resubbing to keep that house, they log in daily in a way which reminds me of gacha games, they seek a community similar to mobages but that community is shrinking and mmos in general are not that popular nowadays. I suspect most of you 14 fags will quit this game in 5 years for a gacha game or you already have, replacing fomo, mobage lite, daily mechanic induced ocd for fomo, mobage lite, daily mechanic induced ocd but with gambling as the cherry on top. I'm too lazy to read the graphics debate but since someone mentioned it: It was a total waste of time and resources and literally no one notices any changes unless you put an side by side before and after screenshot. The game is a decade old and people are getting tired of the current update format.
Everything about the game is essentially "decaying" in people's eyes despite following the same old patch/content rotation since Stormblood (with inconsistent quantity/quality). The mobile port is being made by a different company with a different engine and people can easily see the differences between the two titles.

I have played both Savage tiers and all the extremes so far of Dawntrail, and I only had fun while doing Worqor lar dor against Valigarmanda.
The rest felt like I had to study for a fucking test before participating. Valigarmanda I could kinda feel out the fight without knowing too much before hand, it was great. Shame they don't make fights like that the standard, also Mountain fire being rng where Vali is going to be is a cool little reactionary moment of gameplay, I want more of that.
