The only ones actually profiting right now are a few third parties, a decent chunk of indie developers, and Nintendo. consequently, those are the only people that remembered gamers just wanna play fun games. The market is correcting itself. Simply pursuing cutting edge graphics isn't feasible anymore, as the difference between these generational leaps is getting less and less noticeable. We hit diminishing returns years ago, so these companies that used to rely on just having graphical showcases then segued to shitty live service/microtransaction models are going to have to actually try and make fun games again if they want to survive.
