Theft implies the item in question was under someone's ownership, and we've established that ownership of media is not a thing anymore, therefore neither is theft.

In the overwhelming majority of cases game developers are subhuman scum with nothing but malice and contempt for their customers. Their products represent the lowest quality which can be sold, they are criminally incompetent, cynical, gaslighting, lying, all around sacks of shit. Pirating is not just a moral right, it is an obligation. And if the game does turn out and the developer represents the minuscule minority who do not fit the above description, you can always buy the game afterwards.

The only reason I don't pirate is because I have money and don't mind paying for things I actually like.
I've got too many games to feel compelled to use piracy as a "try-before-you-buy," and I've never had the feeling of "well I like the game but I don't want my money going to the people who made it."
That said I have zero moral opposition to piracy and it's fine if you do it. Whatever.

>Interference with copyright does not easily equate with theft, conversion, or fraud. The copyright holder has a property interest, but the interest is distinct from the possession of a physical object.

Unfortunately politicucks will continue to punish pirates, despite copyright and licensing being actual poison for any health economy. Research is clear: who wants to pay will pay, and some are willing to pay more. The latter is evident in celebs and nowadays gog, the billionaires begging for donations.
