This is the most depressing shit to me regarding anything involving video games.
>>714622057 (OP)None of these are good games so it doesn't impact me at all.
>>714622057 (OP)If you were a true nintendo fan you wouldโve bought these games when they first released.
What am I missing here, what's wrong
>>714622057 (OP)You can't convince me people buy this shit
>>714622057 (OP)>$100 for WarioWare MPGJesus fucking christ.
>>714622057 (OP)Buy games on other systems instead
GameCube games are only that expensive because so many people have been inspired by the various Nintendo Youtubers to try collecting fullsets or to resell these games to people who do
Thankfully outside of Nintendo very few people are doing fullsets so stuff like most PlayStation and Sega games have remained relatively affordable even amidst the retro market bubble. Of course there's still expensive stuff out there but it's not insane across the board unlike most Nintendo games. You're never gonna see of Final Fantasy X selling for $84.99.
It's all fake and gay bullshit too. None of these games are rare. Same thing with the Pokรฉmon games, those things sold millions of copies.
I can understand obscure JRPGs being expensive, just because there's a limited number on the market because they didn't have high sales, but this is just people being massive retarted faggots.
>>714622249You underestimate the retardation of jewtendo fags.
>mfw remembering how my parents sold my gamecube and gamecube collection while I was at school in 5th grade

They "apologized" by buying me a Wii when it launched but still.

>>714622569This. You can get far better original Xbox games for far cheaper and not deal with the cubes inferior picture quality and shitty unreliable disc drive and inferior ports. And if you're a fag looking to drop big cash on games, for the price of one mediocre gamecube title you can get one of the best games of all time. And even play it online for free.
I remember Geist being at Walmart for 5 bucks. It wasn't even behind the glass.
I don't see much reason to buy such old games.
If you're into collecting then that's the price you have to pay if you don't want to shop around. Altough gamecube isn't that old that you couldn't just have bought those earlier when it was cheaper.
I don't know man. Just get wii and pirate the games?
I sometimes look at car that I wanted to buy when I was younger. It's never on sale and if it is then it costs lots of money. I'm not gonna blame the market for it. Just myself for not getting one when those were actually available and reasonable priced.

>>714622749>Altough gamecube isn't that old that you couldn't just have bought those earlier when it was cheaper.Anon, the gamecube came out over 20 years ago. A lot of the posters here weren't even alive then.
Also in hindsight it's easy to say that.

>>714623928YEAAAAAH BATTALION WARS
>Just mod consoles and you can play the whole library for free!
I guess. But is that the only way to enjoy games made prior to a certain year? I can go into a comic or book shop and discover old things for cheap. I can do this with movies, TV shows, manga, board games. I'm free to blindly discover things I think might be interesting in a hobby shop and go through the much more fun process of finding out, "Oh, this is great! I never knew about it before!". I get to crack open the comics, skim them a bit, check out the covers, actually feel like I'm fucking exploring my options.
But for older games, I'm forced into this sterile, "Load everything on a disc and boot up a menu" bullshit. That ain't the way to explore entertainment. How would you prefer to look at paintings? Walking around hallways in a museum with little plaques giving you further information about it, a fucking ZIP file full of JPEGs and a .txt document that you have to look through to find out information about each image?
I know that's just the way it is unless this shit crashes, but you guys gotta see how soulless this is, right?
>>714624628My boxed PC games collection is massive. Even just for loose discs I have binders full of games. I'm sad that's it's so rare for me to find games out in the wild anymore. Or be able to by lots of loose discs of decent shit for cheap online. At least I collected when it was still possible.
>>714624559>Bloody Roar 2 is $50 now.Damn, I found a copy at the thrift store for $7 the other week. Must've gotten lucky.
>>714624559>but getting a good used copy for around $50 isn't that hard to do.And you could say the same for a lot of gamecube games if you go to a few garage sales or whatever.
Look, I can find Mario Sunshine for $30-40, probably cheaper. Pikmin on the gamecube, 30-40. Luigi's mansion, 40-50. Smash Melee, 30-40.
yeah, if you want a game that flopped horribly like say Fire Emblem path of radiance, well then it's gonna cost you a pretty penny because only so many of them were made and nobody bought it. But to pretend like all the Nintendo games are absurdly priced is silly. You can get most of the good gamecube games for pretty fucking cheap, cheaper than they retailed for.
>>714624732the paradox of choice is a helluva one
I kept all my games but I threw out the cases and manuals as a teenager. Moved all my game to one giant 100+ CD case. I hated using up all the shelf space as a kid when it was limited to my bedroom, but now that I have my own place, I wish I didn't do that.
>>714624846I sold a fuck ton of my pokemon cards to the neighbor girl for a fucking quarter. Maybe that was the right thing to do, who knows. Tons of people hoard crap their entire lives thinking it's worth something, and then they got a bunch of garbage to hold on. Like yeah I get many of these games hold their value, but people have entire bookshelves of these things just sitting in their basement taking up a fuck ton of space. That shit's gotta be dusted and cleaned. It may not seem like it but you may have been thinking more rationally then when you downsized to how you're regretting it now.
>>714624817You did. Congrats.
>>714624821I just looked on ebay and looked for what recently sold. I still think $50 for that game is pretty steep, but it's a lot better than $120.
>>714622057 (OP)I remember when games used to go down in price over time but now they only go up. Even consoles, the PS5 is 5 years old and it went up by $50 instead of down. The fuck is going on?
I think I'll just sell all the video games stuff I've for cheap in bulk when and if I sell. Don't care that much about money. Or maybe I'll burn it all if I know I'm dying soon.
People ask way too much for that stuff on flea market etc nowadays. Not that it matters. Only people interested in that are collectors really.
Physical Vidya should be like physical movies and never stop being produced unless it's some shit nobody cares about. It should be mandatory that every new console has backwards compatibility.
>>714624732It's not that I don't agree with you, there's just not much can do about it. I still hold on to my physical games at least.
>>714622672>You can get far better original Xbox games for far cheapernot for much longer if you go around telling everyone
Why are eBay sellers so fucking greedy? I've been checking it for GameCube games for my collection and the games are either shit condition with no manual at the exact market price, double or even triple the actual value because they're HECKING MINT VGC COLLECTOR'S CONDITION RARE, or some fag trying to scam retards by reprinting a shitty cover and then charging the same as CiB. Actual good listings in decent condition and fully complete at a fair price don't tend to last very long, you have to autistically check constantly.
>>714624732I know how you feel, but at least it's an option. I'd much rather load a game on a modded console than go out of my way to pay some shithead an insane amount of money for a game that used to be in the bargain bin.
>>714622057 (OP)some of those games have pretty much had the same price since launch
cube titles were always a little pricer on resale than ps2 or xbox because everything had smaller runs
t. worked at local used vidya store at that time
>>714625196pretty sure that movies don't get produced forever. unless your talking about bootlegs or public domain movies
>>714622057 (OP)>Go to FUCKING Gamestop earlier.>They were selling a cart only copy of Tomodachi Life for $120>A couple case only Silent Hill games for $100-$150
>>714622057 (OP)Why the fuck did Americlaps put the system logo on the wrong side of the spine
>>714625436I'm 99% sure you'll still be able to buy a fresh new copy of steven spielbergs JAWS at walmart in the year 2100. It doesn't even have to be movies. You'll still be able to buy newly produced copies of many classics books too. Yet gamecube bing bing wahoo will be worth a 300,000k and considered priceless ancient artifact because game companies are top retarded to produce old games and workout their licensing shit.
>>714625790is just less sellable product. old books movies people might actually buy. niche stuff
>>714626332>is just less sellable productyeah that's why they're so cheap now

>resign myself to having to walk away after some outrageous offer
>internet ends up not working so he can't check

That games good but way too fucking expensive.
>>714626409yea there's very limited market for that stuff. not worth it for anyone
>>714626751>>I ask the price and he says he doesn't know that game and that he needs to check how much it goes forThis is the worst fucking shit. They always go by the first results on google, which are usually the most ludicrous, out of touch prices you could ever find.
>>714622057 (OP)It really shouldn't be.
You have options at your disposal to not pay a lot of money for old games.
Behold;
Just emulate
It's that easy. GCN emulation can be done on pretty much anything now.
>b-but muh real hardwareThen buy a Wii, a GCN controller, and hack the fucker. All you need is a micro SD card and you're good, it runs GCN natively.
>b-but muh official!!Buy a fucking Switch 2, buy the $100 GCN bluetooth controller, and play the games on NSO. Of the shit in your image, I bet the following will be on NSO at some point before the end of next year:
>Kirby Airride>Wario Ware Inc>Four Swords Adventures>Luigi's Mansion >Mario Part 4&5>Super Mario SunshineThe rest are either on there or are licensed shit (or are Smash which Nintendo doesn't add to NSO for some reason).
>>714626782you're a bit dense aren't you?
>>714623928>>714627521Loose games
All of the games in this image except for the Double Dash Bonus Disc were from my childhood, so excuse the shovelware.
Also some of these I'm holding for my brother until he gets a Gamecube (or a Wii that can play Gamecube games)
>>714625790You can buy GameCube on the Switch 2 so they're doing exactly what you're saying.
Also, I can promise whatever original edition print of Jaws came out on home media for is worth hundreds of dollars.
>>714627650maybe you are.
nobody in real life has gamecubes for example or use it. who the fuck would go to wallmart to buy god damn gamecube games in 2025
>>714625790The biggest difference is that DVDs and books are easily mass produced for super cheap. To print new CDs for each console would be significantly more costly for something that is way more niche than DVDs or books. I'd love to be able to buy a new copy of Pokemon Collusion for $20, but it's just not going to happen.
>>714622057 (OP)The humble dolphin:
>>714622249I work in a retro game shop.
I sold a PS1, memory card, extra controller, and about five games to a guy for around $170 today.
>>714622569Can confirm. Multiplatform games look better on the Xbox, and tend to be fair cheaper.
>>714622057 (OP)It's funny because I have all of those on my PC with HD rendering for free which took about 10 minutes to get set up
>>714628254Not bad. Doesn't sound too greedy and if you're running a shop you need to make some money
>tfw they put the stickers INSIDE the paper label instead of the outter plastic
>>714622057 (OP)Thank nintendo for not having a proper option to play any of these in the last 20 years and for having games so shitty people want to go back to gamecube of all things.
>>714628423Ive also has to badger the owner from attempting to sell a copy of Emerald at 300 when it was completely missing the label.
>"200 then."Progress, but man.
We've got PS1s for 90, Dreamcast for 170, Xbox's for 140, and Saturns for 250? Who the fuck wants a Saturn?
>>714628453I fucking hate that so much. If someone's selling is a game and I see they have that, unless it's a very wanted game, I reject it. I've discovered a way of, very slowly, removing those stickers. It takes ten minutes and it's fucking ASS
>>714622057 (OP)You can either emulate GameCube or play it on NSO. It really doesnโt matter that the originals cost a lot of money.

>>714630686It depends entirely on the sticker but after first taking it out of the case sleeve and flattening it, what you want to do is with a finger, push carefully on the corners. Go back and forth over and over. It begins to lift gently. Focus on the side closest to the edge. Lift two corners, and gently shimmy it upward over and over. Once more than half has been pulled away, grasp it with your index and thumb and tug gently and slowly. It's not always 100% but it does work, and any damage that it does suffer is incredibly minor. It doesn't always work since I'm a habitual nail biter and you need nails for it.

People look back on PS2 as a glorified DVD player. Gamecube nostalgia is peaking right now though, people only look back on it fondly because the games were great. The games on PS2 haven't aged nearly as well, most of them being multiplats. You guys had Tekken and GTA, God of War. I don't really remember anything else that people were playing at the time. >>714633095I'm one of those people that likes literally every single genre and is always trying to experience new types of gameplay I haven't before, so I'm all ears. I have sunk a lot of time into RPGs, but I like action games, fighting, puzzle, shooter, whatever.
>>714633096Depends on what you want to do with your PC.
I spent like 2K plus on building a new one and the most I've done with it is emulate fucking gameboy games and shitpost and watching youtube. I mean I'll use it for more stuff down the line but I do most of gaming on consoles still funnily enough despite my PC being much stronger. It's silly, I know, but it's good for emulation at least. If you want to emulate gamecube games in particular I doubt you need a new PC for that.
Unless there's like a ton of new PC games you want to play and you can't, which I find hard to believe as most new slop isn't worth playing, then I wouldn't do it as you'll probably regret selling your games later on.

>>714633096Yes. Plus buy a Wii and hack it
You can play every GC game easily and authentically, and the GC is probably around it's peak values. Yes values may still go up, but slowly, and it'll get harder and harder to sell the games as interested buyers literally die. Like Atari 2600 games are half impossible to sell lol
>>714633928If you just want to build a PC that can emulate gamecube games, I'd follow a guide like this.
https://youtu.be/ufbnZyLItDg?si=DU8S2BPG4PaMBcgk
You don't wanna go much cheaper than $500 or so, but you could also buy one of those mini computers for around $300-400 and those can emulate old games just fine as well. Yeah I'd avoid a laptop in general for gaming even if it is emulation. Then you don't really need a fancy monitor either. If you're on a budget just get a 27" 1080p display and you're good to go man

>>714630949>retard pretends he is importantmake this post on twitter and you will be banned like you deserve
>>714636207>>714636169Youre shilling the wrong way here. The issue isnt that its a buyers market where people are clamoring to buy the games. You certainly dont need to dissuade people from impulse buying gamecube games. The issue is that every casual nintendo gamer is sitting on 200$ copies of zelda and mario and pokemon and refuses to sell. Convince these people to let go of their copies and prices will start dropping for you.
>>714622057 (OP)I hate what the internet has done to used games. Back in the early to mid 2000s you would still see used games from the NES era sell for a couple bucks. >>714635980Jungle beat is a little strange in that beating the levels was easy but the actual goal was to carry a high combo through them without ever touching the ground, which seems interesting but in reality just led to a number of annoying mechanics like starting every 'segment' by doing the same set of canned inputs for backflip wallkick groundpound-cancel before you can actually start doing anything that gets you bananas.
>>714636463Why should it matter? Normies need to learn to emulate.

>>714636735This is not an internet thing, it happens to all hobbies. Low prices for old used video games was just a hedge that they were a dying trend, the western industry actually believed that the NES was a one-off and that consoles were doomed to eventual irrelevance, until roughly when the wii happened.
>>714636987That does sound rather tedious. Maybe fun for a more casual romp though.
>>714636169Just hack your wii man. It has a built in gamecube in it and can run them natively, it's not emulation. Put em on an SD card and you're good to go. >Melee>Dull overblown game people have lost interest in its revival from 10 years ago.I don't give a fuck if people have lost interest in it, which is hardly even true seeing as how that game continues to bring in new players despite it being 20+ old. There are no other fighting games like that that have sustained a competitive presence like that, but compfaggotry aside, Melee is THE BEST SMASH GAME when it comes to not only how the game plays (very important), but the single player content was also at its peak in Melee. >>714630949See you in hell
I still cannot understand the appeal in collecting old consoles because I KNOW collectors never fucking play them, and they LIE through their fucking teeth about playing them.
I love old tech too, it's the buying and trading shit for hundreds of dollars just to display on a shelf that pisses me off.
>>714644146I just played some F-zero on my Snes like a few days ago. I like older games better, new vidya sucks.
>>714644146Well they don't want to touch the game they bought because it will devalue their investment, and like you said they played the game once but this is a trophy of their wealth and a badge for their personality.
>>714644205stop FUCKING lying
>>714637772>Thousand year backtrackGlad people are continuing to call them out on that garbage chapter design.
>>714622057 (OP)1) just because some kike is listing stuff for that price does not mean it's actually the going rate of what people will actually pay for those games. It's been over a decade since I've stepped foot in any of those "retro" game stores, but the last time I did, I remember seeing a bunch of playstations, dreamcasts, super nintendos, etc all wrapped up and being sold for 3x what you could get them off ebay, for same condition. And remember, this was a decade ago before things got nearly as crazy.
2) nintendo tax. Because nintendo has fostered a strange cult of personality, it causes people to go full-retard on the second hand market. Plenty of examples where there can be a multiplat game on gamecube/ps2/xbox, and the game can be of equal quality across platforms or possibly the GC version being slightly worse in some way, but the GC version will still inexplicably go for twice the price of the others. And of course anything with a mario or link or pikachu slapped on the box will instantly have its price jacked up.
3) generation tax. There is a slow-moving "wave" when it comes to what old vidya is en vogue at any given point. It's all based on who grew up with a particular console/generation, and when they reach an age where they have disposable income to blow on useless crap. So first atari got big, then NES, then SNES/Genesis, then N64/PS1, and so on. Right now 6th gen is still the big thing for "retro". 7th gen has slowly been starting to go up but most of that stuff is still reasonably priced. The more obscure stuff has gone up though.
>>714622057 (OP)>Most of these are games Nintendo could be reselling digitallyWhy the FUCK is HP $65?
>>714631110Sure, a system like PS2 will have rare games that cause prices to be higher. But the price is much more logical. It's not like with Nintendo games where the first-party stuff that sold tens of millions of copies each are the games that go for the highest prices.
The big exception for PS2 I can think of off the top of my head is the Silent Hill games. Survival Horror games in general also seem to go full-retard with price, and logic just flies right out the window, not dissimilar from nintendo game values.
>>714622057 (OP)How the fuck's Melee only 70$ compared to the rest of those?
>>714624732Youtube was how I discovered a lot of games, I know you guys hate it when e-celebs cover obscure games but they're legit the only way future gens will be able to learn about old series.
>>714622057 (OP)Just wait for them to come to the NSO
>>714632671Not really. The only real downside was all the "nintendo kiddie shit le gaycube xD" bantz on the middle school playground. But in terms of actually owning one at the time, there were constant bangers coming out year after year. Not to mention really sweet deals with players choice titles for 10-20 bucks a pop and plenty of stuff easily snagged on clearance.
My library of games from back then included
>Mario Sunshine>Wind Waker>Metroid Prime 1>Metroid Prime 2>Eternal Darkness>Viewtiful Joe>MGS Twin Snakes>007 Nightfire>Timesplitters 2>F-Zero GX>Smash Bros Melee>Pikmin 2>Pokemon Colosseum>Super Monkey Ball>Animal Crossing>Paper Mario TTYD>Resident Evil>Resident Evil Zero>Resident Evil 4>Prince of Persia>Sonic Adventure 2So yeah, always had some really good shit to play and never felt like I was lacking, even though of course there were plenty of fantastic games on PC/PS2/Xbox that weren't on gamecube.
It was a totally different story with the Wii. Despite that console selling gangbusters, none of those sales translated into nintendo reinvesting into increased high quality game output. Instead, despite selling better than gamecube, the quality and output was actually lower than before. I remember significant dryspells where there was fuck-all to play on Wii, and meanwhile everyone else is enjoying all these cool games coming out on PC/PS3/360. The final straw that got me to finally get into PC gaming was that one E3 conference where all they showed was some wii music drum and nintendogs bullshit
>>714646489>there were constant bangers coming out year after yearThat was the problem, there wasn't. When Xbox and PS2 were going online you still had cube guys talk about smash melee, a game that was years old. All the Xbox versions looking a generation ahead, GC at best matching PS2 visually but never being able to be taken seriously due to the aesthetic of the console and controller.
>>714622057 (OP)is the point supposed to be that these games can be sold for lots of cash today and that those of us who sold them years ago to clear some space in our attics commited a mistale by not hoarding and waiting? D:

With the hookups and one controller.
Everything but the sports games average 15~35.
>>714634870That's the thing, we don't, but they occasionally sneak into the pile being sold to us. Like. For example.
Last month, a copy of Painkiller was in a large stack of Xbox games. Painkiller gold. I told the guy we don't take PC games, and he best sell it privately on Facebook. He shrugs and says he'll toss it in. I set it aside and let the owner know, and he says I can take it home. After cleaning the discs, I install them to my PC. The key still works fine and I've got Painkiller Gold. That's how I got Empire at War, Battlefield 2142, Jedi Academy sealed, and Portal.
>>714648210I also got the manual for Arcanum. The disc was shattered to pieces and I could not save it, but I made the recipe in the back of the booklet and it wasn't too bad.

Why are you putting yourself in a humiliation ritual of your own creation?
What I don't understand is how people are in a perpetual state of denial regarding these prices rising. I have been hearing "this bubble will burst soon enough" for twenty years now, and back then people were talking about 20โฌ games.
>There are jews, scalpers and hoarders in video game reselling too? This is fucking outrageous oh my god, surely not, how can this be happening?
>>714656707The killer is that all these systems are emulatable and/or hackable, so it doesn't stop play. People just act like fags for no reason.

>>714649694I always think the best approach to introducing kids to games is through old games.
Otherwise they probably start out with some f2p phone because those are free or gets influenced by hype and ads to play the latest fotm.
Old games let you appreciate the game as a game, not as a simulation of reality.
>>714624846I bought a bunch of PS2 games back when GS was doing their PS2 liquidation sale. It was like buy 2 get 2 free with a lot of games for 2 dollars. Most of them came disc only and I still haven't gotten cases and manuals for most of them.
No disc listings are ridiculously rare on ebay and they usually try to sell for around the same price as CIB. Of course, prices have only gotten worse.
>>714653806bro when I was a dumbass kid I sold a lot of my PS2 games for Oblivion on the PS3. What a fucking mistake

>>714658787was it dumb?
even if you could sell every single ps2 game for $100 now, that's equivalent to a like 2.4% saving plan. At least you got to play Oblivion and didn't waste your childhood saving money for later.
>>714659238Yeah that's why I don't regret it. At the time It made sense so I'm not too hung up on it. I'm just aware now how predatory gamestop was so I'm only slightly upset
>>714629983Somebody had to. He'd just become more of an asshole otherwise.
People like this pop up in society because nobody confronts them on their behavior because people have been conditioned to be non-confrontational.
Just emulate them or mod your console. You do actually want to play the games, right? You don't just want to display them on your shelf like a faggot, right?
>>714622057 (OP)Completely irrelevant when you can play all those for free thanks to emulation. Let the retards get scammed, it's their money after all.
>>714622249I've been selling all of my old games recently, and you would be amazed how much interest there is.
These prices are fucking ridiculous, and it seems to be entirely nostalgia-driven. People want to replay the same games that they played as kids, and prices don't seem to reflect what's actually good. For example I got $180 for Pokemon LeafGreen, but I could only get $40 for Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga.
I've had two separate trannies show up. One for a broken copy of Pokemon Yellow, and one for a Nintendo 64 with Mario Kart 64.

>>714645926Its demand.
Like I have kind of collected Xbox games(stopped after 120) and like you had some pretty good 8/10 games that sold a 100k copies going for 2 bucks and halo 2 going for 16,-.
Nobody really collects for xbox, everybody collects for nintendo.
>>714660270In early 2000 most people knew about collectors shit, even for games. Obviously as a kid you wouldn't care about such things.
What people didn't expect is the possibility of emulating everything and transition to digital only.
>$100 ... triplemaybe for some un-opened games, most games value just returned to the original buying price.
You would've made more money buying some Nintendo stocks at that time. Having any regrets for this is stupid, its just gambling.
My brother used to have Pokemon cards that possibly increased a hundredfold in value.
That's where you can have a little regret, but we just joke about it now.
