that was awful and made me so mad I had to shut the game off for the night, why the hell did they change it so you barely get weapon drops anymore from Sams, especially as most catcher fights can now happen instantly, without warning, so you might not have a chance to prepare? Even with a large ammo pouch you'll still burn through weapons like mad on brutal simply because of the bloated HP pools.

I'm missing something here. Is there a gimmick to this fight or am I just utterly retarded? I got like 12 hours in and the story has grinded to an absolute halt, and any time I try to pick it back up feels do forced I play maybe 20 minutes before thinking I shouldn't be wasting my weekend with this.

There are so many aspects I love, the music, the presentation/production value, the animation work. And yet, it's all wasted on a fundamentally boring as fuck foundation.

It actually annoys me because I not only lament what DS2 is, but also what we never got instead because KJP was wasting precious time and talent on this fucking thing.

Lou ended up on Neil's war beach when Fragile jumped her because of how Neil and Lou are connected. Fragile is basically Amelie except backwards in DS2 and her separated Ka followed Lou. She basically didn't have a choice but to leave Lou with Neil and the other dead. Also remember, Higgs didn't kill Lou and he knows he didn't kill her, he's just talking shit because he wanted Sam to beat him up in his superior Skull Face death scene.

Kind of feel conflicted after finishing this game (~58 hours, 42/42). On the one hand DS2 is a clear improvement over DS1 (gameplay, pacing, QoL) but a major part of DS1's appeal was the novelty of Kojima doing something new. So him repeating the same kind of story structure and resolution felt quite dissapointing, not the mention the shallow commentary on A.I. and how it quickly got brushed aside in the end.

I also wonder how this game would've turned out if Low Roar didn't pass away. Kojima had 3-4 whole albums to choose from for DS1. The songs from Magnolian and "Field of Dreams" were quite beautiful but in terms of quantity, DS1 has DS2 beat.

For now, I'm looking forward to Physint but I do hope he restraints himself from constantly self-referencing his older work. At times, during the final boss some lines made me almost cringe instead of smile.

I think APAS' idea of
> for the safety of humankind, and other species, people need to stay at home/shelter
is a smaller part of the whole conversation between APAS and Die-Hardman about the relationship between humans and how to responsibly handle A.I.

Which in the end is nothing more insightful than: be careful not to lose what makes us human when using this powerful tool, specifically our bodily senses and our need to move around.

definitely a lot of puzzling things. i was really surprised how little thematic content there was in the game considering Kojima decided to make a whole sequel just for that. eg, "don't let automated systems overtake to the point where humanity stagnates, we need real connections and face to face relationships to meaningfully evolve."
for me personally, the music in this game also mostly fell flat. the game just doesn't have close to the same atmosphere of isolation and somber mindfulness that the first game had, especially with you going back to your crew on the DHV after every other main order, yet the soundtrack is basically unchanged in terms of mood, and pretty much every time something came on it felt out of place. also feels like instead of picking important parts of the journey for poignancy, he just put music whenever there was a guaranteed short stretch of nothing. not even synced with any special views or anything. I immediately recall the scene from DS1 where you descend from the mountain to the port city in the first area after getting out of the bt zone and the music really hit there. pretty much only the opening of ds2 hit me.
the entire rest of the game I felt like I was just going through the games motions and Kojima's, I think it was a poor decision to make the structure of the game exactly mirror ds1 down to when and how many not-clifford fights happen and so on. also the game is called on the beach but the beach was not meaningfully integrated. overall I just kept wondering when the game would finally justify its existence to me but it never did. I also just think in terms of traversal challenge (not saying ds1 was hard, but I at least had to be somewhat mindful) ds2'a Australia is VASTLY inferior.

like his writing or not, in the past games Kojima would usually have some core theme at the heart of the new game's narrative, DS2 just felt incredibly spread thin in that regard, Kojima had nothing to say.

I also still really dislike the new control scheme, ds1 had better controls *seriously why the fuck is circle attack?*. it has a lot of cool new mechanics and improves on things but idk I feel like ds1 is way better.

bb in the pod was a stupid addition, especially with it being immediately apparent that Sam's just coping. as a result I pretty much barely interacted with bb this whole game, even when she was unhappy because I knew it wasn't real and let's be honest, the game pretty much doesn't even care to make it look like a relationship Sam has, he doesn't even acknowledge the pod in cutscenes until le reveal

I didnt get into the first game much when it first came out, but I was playing it very wrong and didn't understand some things. i think I got as far as middle knot city the first attempt to play it.

But when death stranding 2 came out and people were really enjoying it, I tried death stranding 1 again from the start. Having better hardware helps because its nice to play at 144 fps on PC. But also, I approached the game differently. First, I simply started to fight the mules while not carrying any cargo. Next, I started to build all the roads and start to complete deliveries to max out each NPC's star rating. It became more like foxhole or euro truck simulator, a delivery game with roads instead of a walking sim.

I am looking forward to when death stranding 2 comes to PC, it seems like they added a bunch of goofy stuff and more fun combat.

Yeah the story feels too formulaic in how it's paced. That's an inherent problem with open world mission based game design though. Just look at MGSV.
Tomorrow needed more screentime bonding with Sam and learning from him as a daughter. If she became a companion who actually traveled with you and helped carry stuff that could have been amazing.
Neil just feels like a waste of a good actor and fantastic art/cutscene direction. The story really didn't need to redo Mads with a worse backstory about cuckoldry instead of fatherhood.

I think the criticism or divisiveness DS1 really got to Kojima and he played it (creatively) safe, or atleast spend more time trying to "fix" DS1. Now I really want to know what the original script was considering he mentioned multiple times he changed it during Covid. I remember him saying he made the story more optimistic.

> also feels like instead of picking important parts of the journey for poignancy, he just put music whenever there was a guaranteed short stretch of nothing. not even synced with any special views or anything.
I disagree, some songs were definitely misses (anything not Low Roar, Woodkid, Magnolian or Hania Rani) but DS2 still manages to recreate that melancholic yet hopeful mood when nearing your destination. The addition of the music player also enables players to recreate those moments for themselves which makes me wonder: why didn't Kojima include more Low Roar songs in DS2, he obviously isn't shy about reusing songs. If DS2 included all the albums of Low Roar the replay value of DS2 would skyrocket.

Watching some streamers reacting to this game is so fucking annoying, I cannot believe how retarded some of these people are, they do not realize that DS2 is not a streamer game, you can't force through the main quest all the time, there's backtracking, there's careful planning, all of that, too much to ask from streamers who want to entertain their audience 24/7. This game is meant to be played on your own pace without outside influence.
Penguinz0 even missed two missable cutscenes. If you miss the guitar duel cutscene you have to have ADHD or some form of that. Lou also survives the voidout at the start of DS1 which people in-game should've questioned. Maybe there are some weird rules for BBs, but the game never really bothered to deal with it. It would have to be something specific to Lou and Sam since they've made BBs in the past and incinerated them just fine, and clearly thought at the end of DS1 it would work. I think the criticism on DS2's terrain being too easy compared to 1 is mostly unfounded. Virtually everyone has played the first game so we already know efficient routing and tricks to overcome rivers or sudden elevation changes. We are just better DS players by now, so it might seem easier when it's actually the same. If anything standard routes have literal enemies in highways so it's not as straightforward.

There are absolutely things that have been casualized, not just the terrain. DS1 closes you off of vehicles much more often unless you build roads. You literally don't need to do corpse disposal anymore. Ammo is automatic, etc. You get upgrades far earlier than 1

The terrain is fine, the real problem is that the economy is waaay too forgiving, you have so many resources at all times, like what's even the point of the shared locker feature other than taking on more cargo? It's also annoying because it clutters up the game so much. The game desperately needs a very hard mode or something where its much more strict with resources.

They clearly balanced it around roads and monorails. The mid way onwards roads take fuck tons of resources and you're pretty much expected to use the mines and lug them around multiple times. Meaning if you don't care about roads you'll never run of of resources to do any normal stuff.

I would say it's generally a little easier even before familiarity, but the biggest problem is that they couldn't really come up with much interesting to add to the terrain/environment. Weather seemed to be the idea, but none of it paid off. The rivers "flood" but are still shallow enough to just bike or wade through, wildfires show up like 3 times and you just drive around the individual patches of fire, whiteouts happen but you have a full 3d map and terrain scanner, etc. Like 50% of the map is different shades of desert, 40% is the one mountain, and 10% is Death Stranding 1 again. I know it's Australia, but it would've helped to have more visually interesting biomes or something.

It's a hard design problem to tackle, because making things strictly more difficult would just end up being annoying. "Oh great, the rivers flooded now I just have to spend an extra 10 minutes going to get the shit to make a bridge."

Then he met Amelie and spiraled into insanity. She made Sam his rival to decide if the world should end. So he starts being extra mean to him to a point of obsession while stringing him along to connect the network and blow it up. But Amelie chooses Sam and betrays him.

By the end he is genuinely fond of Sam in a strange way. Sam is really the only one who can understand what Higgs went through. But he's still angry with Sam because he ruined everything for him and left him stranded on the beach for thousands of years.

When they owned xbox and nintendo, so they played Halo, Gears of War, all that nintendo slop. And they hated Playstation for being another console that they did not own, so they hated on MGS, which was the flagship of the PS2 with MGS2 and PS3 with MGS4.
This remnants never grew up and they still hold this hate.

Before the last patch, there was a spot near the Architect that had a bunch of gold creatures clumped together. Usually I would wait until the three closest to the prepper got close enough that they'd all eat a single blood grenade and the lingering mist would kill the little offshoots it creates, leaving upwards of 800-1200 crystals each. Its still viable, but I have been just picking everything up as I see them with the yield boost. I also managed to get all my chiralium needs met.

Pregnant ladies are some of the most taken care of human beings, how common can you actually find a braindead one? and how do they make sure the unborn baby is being incubated enough while still in the oven?
