>game refuses to spawn any weapons for me halfway through the fight, got so pissed off I finished off the last BT with the blood boomerang and my summons
that was awful and made me so mad I had to shut the game off for the night, why the hell did they change it so you barely get weapon drops anymore from Sams, especially as most catcher fights can now happen instantly, without warning, so you might not have a chance to prepare? >>714642609 (OP)Kind of feel conflicted after finishing this game (~58 hours, 42/42). On the one hand DS2 is a clear improvement over DS1 (gameplay, pacing, QoL) but a major part of DS1's appeal was the novelty of Kojima doing something new. So him repeating the same kind of story structure and resolution felt quite dissapointing, not the mention the shallow commentary on A.I. and how it quickly got brushed aside in the end.
I also wonder how this game would've turned out if Low Roar didn't pass away. Kojima had 3-4 whole albums to choose from for DS1. The songs from Magnolian and "Field of Dreams" were quite beautiful but in terms of quantity, DS1 has DS2 beat.
For now, I'm looking forward to Physint but I do hope he restraints himself from constantly self-referencing his older work. At times, during the final boss some lines made me almost cringe instead of smile.
Goddamn this game and repeating the same fucking thing a billion times. First one was the same way. Ik itโs a kojima thing with the exposition or whatever but still. I donโt listen to the holograms anymore I just kinda glaze through them. 95% of it is like teetering on filler

>>714661808> Itโs about Covid lockdowns, not AI ("Zero Voidout Policy")I think APAS' idea of
> for the safety of humankind, and other species, people need to stay at home/shelteris a smaller part of the whole conversation between APAS and Die-Hardman about the relationship between humans and how to responsibly handle A.I.
Which in the end is nothing more insightful than: be careful not to lose what makes us human when using this powerful tool, specifically our bodily senses and our need to move around.
>>714662734I have only 1 structure that managed to hit 5k everything else is pretty low. I think the high likes on some them favored early access and streamer/journalist scum that were in it early.

>>714646580So this is the "genuine" non-irony poisoned game that Kojimafags praise so much?
Trophy rate percentages are pretty high. Itโs around 50% for completing chapter 5.
>>714663152Youโre upset. You should put the hate aside and just play goty instead of crying because you donโt have a ps5.
>>714662226some shelters have unique sub orders if you haven't gotten them all to five stars like the Fisherman, Terminal Knot, The Adventurer and some others
>>714658750>>714662289>>714662758definitely a lot of puzzling things. i was really surprised how little thematic content there was in the game considering Kojima decided to make a whole sequel just for that. eg, "don't let automated systems overtake to the point where humanity stagnates, we need real connections and face to face relationships to meaningfully evolve."
for me personally, the music in this game also mostly fell flat. the game just doesn't have close to the same atmosphere of isolation and somber mindfulness that the first game had, especially with you going back to your crew on the DHV after every other main order, yet the soundtrack is basically unchanged in terms of mood, and pretty much every time something came on it felt out of place. also feels like instead of picking important parts of the journey for poignancy, he just put music whenever there was a guaranteed short stretch of nothing. not even synced with any special views or anything. I immediately recall the scene from DS1 where you descend from the mountain to the port city in the first area after getting out of the bt zone and the music really hit there. pretty much only the opening of ds2 hit me.
the entire rest of the game I felt like I was just going through the games motions and Kojima's, I think it was a poor decision to make the structure of the game exactly mirror ds1 down to when and how many not-clifford fights happen and so on. also the game is called on the beach but the beach was not meaningfully integrated. overall I just kept wondering when the game would finally justify its existence to me but it never did. I also just think in terms of traversal challenge (not saying ds1 was hard, but I at least had to be somewhat mindful) ds2'a Australia is VASTLY inferior.
like his writing or not, in the past games Kojima would usually have some core theme at the heart of the new game's narrative, DS2 just felt incredibly spread thin in that regard, Kojima had nothing to say.
>>714663107yea idk if it's just Elle Fanning's voice's natural timbre or she's just a bad actress but her lines all felt super stilted. my exgf claimed she was great in The Great though
>>714663509It feels like a lot of the characters and story beats from either game couldโve been swapped around and without changing the effect
I dislike how little interaction there is with bb, I miss seeing her all happy when I do stuff. doll man is cool but he's so quiet and only interjects during plot points. I also still really dislike the new control scheme, ds1 had better controls *seriously why the fuck is circle attack?*. it has a lot of cool new mechanics and improves on things but idk I feel like ds1 is way better.
>>714658058I couldn't stand to listen to the pajeet so I didn't do his stuff
>>714663509SHOULD WE HAVE CONNECTED?
(It's like 2 lines at the end of the game)
thanks kojimbo
>>714664341bb in the pod was a stupid addition, especially with it being immediately apparent that Sam's just coping. as a result I pretty much barely interacted with bb this whole game, even when she was unhappy because I knew it wasn't real and let's be honest, the game pretty much doesn't even care to make it look like a relationship Sam has, he doesn't even acknowledge the pod in cutscenes until le reveal
>>714642609 (OP)I didnt get into the first game much when it first came out, but I was playing it very wrong and didn't understand some things. i think I got as far as middle knot city the first attempt to play it.
But when death stranding 2 came out and people were really enjoying it, I tried death stranding 1 again from the start. Having better hardware helps because its nice to play at 144 fps on PC. But also, I approached the game differently. First, I simply started to fight the mules while not carrying any cargo. Next, I started to build all the roads and start to complete deliveries to max out each NPC's star rating. It became more like foxhole or euro truck simulator, a delivery game with roads instead of a walking sim.
I am looking forward to when death stranding 2 comes to PC, it seems like they added a bunch of goofy stuff and more fun combat.

Did you fellas walk everywhere or drive everywhere?
It feels like driving is obviously so much faster but walking is better for vibes
>>714665815drove everywhere because the game does not give you any meaningful terrain either way, only difference with going on foot is that it takes longer
>>714663509Yeah the story feels too formulaic in how it's paced. That's an inherent problem with open world mission based game design though. Just look at MGSV.
Tomorrow needed more screentime bonding with Sam and learning from him as a daughter. If she became a companion who actually traveled with you and helped carry stuff that could have been amazing.
Neil just feels like a waste of a good actor and fantastic art/cutscene direction. The story really didn't need to redo Mads with a worse backstory about cuckoldry instead of fatherhood.
>>714663509I think the criticism or divisiveness DS1 really got to Kojima and he played it (creatively) safe, or atleast spend more time trying to "fix" DS1. Now I really want to know what the original script was considering he mentioned multiple times he changed it during Covid. I remember him saying he made the story more optimistic.
> also feels like instead of picking important parts of the journey for poignancy, he just put music whenever there was a guaranteed short stretch of nothing. not even synced with any special views or anything.I disagree, some songs were definitely misses (anything not Low Roar, Woodkid, Magnolian or Hania Rani) but DS2 still manages to recreate that melancholic yet hopeful mood when nearing your destination. The addition of the music player also enables players to recreate those moments for themselves which makes me wonder: why didn't Kojima include more Low Roar songs in DS2, he obviously isn't shy about reusing songs. If DS2 included all the albums of Low Roar the replay value of DS2 would skyrocket.

There's no need for a sequel even if I think that The Death Stranding/timefall still existing, is kind of a pyrrhic victory. You can even see in the ending that humanity kinda gived up on forming connections and just rely on the bots for delivery, I mean the bots already deliver in the UCA, only Lou keeps delivering
Watching some streamers reacting to this game is so fucking annoying, I cannot believe how retarded some of these people are, they do not realize that DS2 is not a streamer game, you can't force through the main quest all the time, there's backtracking, there's careful planning, all of that, too much to ask from streamers who want to entertain their audience 24/7. This game is meant to be played on your own pace without outside influence.
Penguinz0 even missed two missable cutscenes. If you miss the guitar duel cutscene you have to have ADHD or some form of that. He's doing a resident evil marathon now, which is funny because the tank controls and backtracking there is as bad as in Death Stranding, but you know he won't care about tank control movement
Charlies dance caught me so off guard I was in complete shock. Kojima is a mad man

I really didn't like how they made it so the player knew Lou was dead. It would have been far more enjoyable to find out when Sam did that it was all in his head.

>>714675770Sam literally says "you're dead" when the "BT" first shows up, Dollman tells him the pod is empty and fragile covers his mouth. It's very obvious that the lou in the pod is not real.
>>714677943That's what I mean. Its so super clear to everyone, including the player, that Lou is dead. It makes Sam realizing it later on feel silly. The game would have been way better if at least tried to hide that Lou died.
>>714677943this is why I barely ever interacted with or tried to soothe "lou". Game felt much more lonely than DS1.
On a side note I would have liked an option to spend time with Tomorrow or some kind of callback in the postgame. The game ends with Sam just saying "yeah" to Tomorrow acknowledging she's Louise. I thought she would have called him dad or something,
>>714678038We're supposed to be observers watching a man struggle with ptsd. It's not meant to be a twist or anything like that.

>>714678038I thought it wasn't as bleak as DS1 mostly because I loved the camaraderie in the Magellan, and the Fragile twist at the end made it even more sweet.

There really needs to be a console board where we filter these towards
This is a Chud PC board for games
The enormous BT on the way back to Sam's shelter was absolutely awful. A giant damage sponge with only a few attacks where you'll either feel its doing nothing or get attacked by something you can't see because it takes up the whole damn screen. You pretty much need to just run around and hope you get free rocket launchers or the fight takes AGES with normal guns.
>>714678719Why do they always say the DHV part?
>>714678719The DHV tune at the end felt really cathartic whenever it shows up. It was slowly built out throughout the game and I think it was purposely juxtaposed against the BB Theme from which it was derived so you get this "aha" moment in the third act.
>>714678832huh? I died once but it went pretty easy the 2nd time, just gotta shoot its knees and then when it falls shoot the giant orb things on the top of its body

How did Lou survive the voidout from Neil's body, and if the answer is that Lou is a repatriate like Sam then wouldn't that make everything that happens earlier with Fragile jumping her away completely pointless/nonsensical? Maybe they loaded her into a cargo canon and shot her out of the city before it blew up.
>>714681541Lou was moved out of the facility by then
>>714681541Lou was gone by then
>Sam!, You gotta go and save Tomorrow!
Couldn't be any more on the nose then that.
>>714682106Lou also survives the voidout at the start of DS1 which people in-game should've questioned. Maybe there are some weird rules for BBs, but the game never really bothered to deal with it. It would have to be something specific to Lou and Sam since they've made BBs in the past and incinerated them just fine, and clearly thought at the end of DS1 it would work. Lou was probably always unkillable based on where the game goes, and it's just that no one really knew that.

I think the criticism on DS2's terrain being too easy compared to 1 is mostly unfounded. Virtually everyone has played the first game so we already know efficient routing and tricks to overcome rivers or sudden elevation changes. We are just better DS players by now, so it might seem easier when it's actually the same. If anything standard routes have literal enemies in highways so it's not as straightforward.
>>714685851it's okay, they're chiral cigarettes
>>714686263Its not easier, its about the same really. A handful of somewhat tricky parts and the rest being cheesed with vehicles.
>>714684373Lou IS a repatriate too, hes Sam's kid.
Thats literally the whole point of why his existence had to be a secret. But you're right, it should've been questioned now that you mention it. I can't remember if they do
>>714686263There are absolutely things that have been casualized, not just the terrain. DS1 closes you off of vehicles much more often unless you build roads. You literally don't need to do corpse disposal anymore. Ammo is automatic, etc. You get upgrades far earlier than 1
>>714642609 (OP)this game, just like the first one, killed my apathy and doomer mood. for now. idk how Kojima god does it. I need to go do something productive with my time. Keep on keeping on, porters.
>>714686263The terrain is fine, the real problem is that the economy is waaay too forgiving, you have so many resources at all times, like what's even the point of the shared locker feature other than taking on more cargo? It's also annoying because it clutters up the game so much. The game desperately needs a very hard mode or something where its much more strict with resources.
So what was up with the huge fuck-off moon? Just a spook with no deeper mechanic or meaning?
because the spook worked, I was fucking terrified the first couple of times
>>714687060They clearly balanced it around roads and monorails. The mid way onwards roads take fuck tons of resources and you're pretty much expected to use the mines and lug them around multiple times. Meaning if you don't care about roads you'll never run of of resources to do any normal stuff.
>>714687308the monorail investment seemed so steep I never got into it
>>714686859Opposite for me. It just leaves me wishing I could just wander out into the wilderness and hear a cool song start playing
Any links to the full OST?
I focused on developing the roads and whenever I got a delivery that was for a place I was going to pass by, I'd take it, I did not take huge detours, only the obligatory backtracks.
Honestly this is how it should be. People should not get tired doing side content before finishing the game. I'm going to platinum it and I know I will love the journey, but to finish the main quest you really need to focus on not wasting time with side content
>>714679689No he doesn't.
>Bola Stun Gun
What where they thinking this completely trivializes all non ghost mec areas
>>714686263I would say it's generally a little easier even before familiarity, but the biggest problem is that they couldn't really come up with much interesting to add to the terrain/environment. Weather seemed to be the idea, but none of it paid off. The rivers "flood" but are still shallow enough to just bike or wade through, wildfires show up like 3 times and you just drive around the individual patches of fire, whiteouts happen but you have a full 3d map and terrain scanner, etc. Like 50% of the map is different shades of desert, 40% is the one mountain, and 10% is Death Stranding 1 again. I know it's Australia, but it would've helped to have more visually interesting biomes or something.
It's a hard design problem to tackle, because making things strictly more difficult would just end up being annoying. "Oh great, the rivers flooded now I just have to spend an extra 10 minutes going to get the shit to make a bridge."
>>714679461>>714679689>>714688039Couldn't it technically be multiple people?
Heartman and Deadman both inhabit Heartman's body at different times. Could it not be that Lou, Deadman, and Higgs all used the cryborg ninja at different times?

I thought the Death Stranding was already prevented in the end of DS1
but its still a thing in DS2, and seemingly still at the end of it... despite EE giant Lou eating Higgs and effectively giving the finger to the last stranding
>>714679194Given the world in DS my personal theory, even knowing the spoilers, is that the Lou Sam can see and that flies around him is slightly, not truly but still slightly, a real manifestation of her soul trying to comfort Sam. A residual bit of her soul tied up with his. I have no evidence to back this up but I prefer to think it's true.
>>714688395I thought the bridge went over just water? I tried to coffin board it but it stops you because you need chiral connectivity to use the board. Does this game have boat vehicles I'm not aware of

>>714690289Tbh I don't get him and what makes him tick, he has some sort of attachment complex with his superiors and gets absolutely butthurt when they fail him in some way. He also seems to treat his relationship with Sam as some sort of sibling rivalry, and is very unserious about it. He reminds me a lot of an extremely chaotic Joker.
>>714687895Yeah I think I'm going to do this now. I'm only on chapter 7 and have been spending way too long trying to five star everyone in the west when I'm sure it will be a lot easier to just come back and finish later when I have more toys. I'm kind of burnt out just trucking everywhere on level one roads
>>714690945Pretty sure he's just obsessed with Sam and being his opposite for the sake of it. Sam even calls him out on it saying "is this what you really want" and Higgs just brushes it off. I don't think he wants extinction THAT much, he just wants something to make a real cool fight with Sam.
>APAS was in control the entire time
>no actually Drawbridge was in control the entire time

>>714691903>DS1 Deadman>Sam I'm so tortured because I don't have a beach and thus proves I really am a soulless monster made from the corpses of other people, but it doesn't matter because the connections I've made to my friends are real and through those connections I can access the beach>DS2 Deadman>sup Sam I'm deaderman now lol and btw I did have a beach and DOOMS all along, kthxbai for now im never REALLY gone ;) ttyl senpai byeeee xx ffs Kojima
>>714690945He used to be a good person
Then he met Amelie and spiraled into insanity. She made Sam his rival to decide if the world should end. At first Higgs feels like a chosen one but he's extremely insecure and jealous of Sam getting attention from Amelie. So he starts being extra mean to him to a point of obsession while stringing him along to connect the network and blow it up. But Amelie chooses Sam and betrays him.
By the end he is genuinely fond of Sam in a strange way. Sam is really the only one who can understand what Higgs went through. But he's still angry with Sam because he ruined everything for him and left him stranded on the beach for thousands of years.
It's just two guys who would otherwise be best friends caught in a cycle of fucking up each others lives
>>714692658I thought it was just written that way cuz guillermo didn't have time ( and in the same way I think lea may have asked Kojima to kill off Fragile so she doesn't have to do this shit anymore ) but then he comes back and has so much screen time lmao

Question. I found these small golden creatures near tar pools and when I killed one it split but if you get them all they give a bunch of chiral crystals. Just beat it myself. Quite comfy personal GOTY so far.
Can you play songs in game as you deliver stuff like in MGSV?

>Don't get Samurai Sword
LAME
Bros I'm over 30 hours in and I just discovered you can use the monorail to zipline. This is a gamechanger.
If DS2 was soulless this would not be in the game simple as. This alone defeats any such allegations. Anyone who played DS1 and sang this song in springs knows.

I don't understand why the far right americans hate this game, I assume they are remnants of the console wars? When they owned xbox and nintendo, so they played Halo, Gears of War, all that nintendo slop. And they hated Playstation for being another console that they did not own, so they hated on MGS, which was the flagship of the PS2 with MGS2 and PS3 with MGS4.
This remnants never grew up and they still hold this hate.

DS2 has themes of climate change and women's rights. Kojima's writing is kinda clunky with it which doesn't help the perception. But the part that directly confronts you is such a small portion of the game you could blink and miss it
Thank you for the retrieving of yours truly. Here are some gloves that allow the redeeming of shit from a distance.

These are the lyrics to HORIZON DREAMER, from the Dollman dance, translated to English: https://www.lyrical-nonsense.com/global/lyrics/daichi-miura/horizon-dreamer/english/
"to a faraway new land"
this is referencing the parallel dimension in DEATH STRANDING 2. i have no doubt in my mind the first also has it, but this is a direct reference to it that you can't ignore
We have only played HALF of Kojima's games. I like to believe Grey Fox is the parallel world for mgs1, since the VR missions teased it, but who knows what's really beyond that Gate?

>>714730619Yes exactly. They are great because they are annoying. Bunch of retarded dudebros > yet another bland prepper with nothing to them.
>>714730775>Took a few hours but I got around 13k crystals. Before the last patch, there was a spot near the Architect that had a bunch of gold creatures clumped together. Usually I would wait until the three closest to the prepper got close enough that they'd all eat a single blood grenade and the lingering mist would kill the little offshoots it creates, leaving upwards of 800-1200 crystals each. Its still viable, but I have been just picking everything up as I see them with the yield boost. I also managed to get all my chiralium needs met.

That was Neil's job, to smuggle in pregnant women from Mexico.
Am I wrong?
>>714742249It wasn't any pregnant women, it was braindead ones - they were keeping alive children who would have otherwise died, albeit with the motive of condemning them to basically be glorified internet routers
>>714741716NTA but Deadman tells you that a bunch of bbs were sacrificed to set up the network. It literally was baby sacrifice to a weird undead tech god.
>>714741840Her story was about the first prototype pod not able to support the undeveloped baby. It was not an abortion.

>>714742681Bridge Babies weren't aborted fetuses.
They were always disposed of after their service.
This was in the first game.
>>714742907What is it called again if you prematurely end a pregnancy by killing the fetus?
>the metagenomist has you moving 16 large cargo worth of squids
>you have 8 minutes to do this
>you can only carry 5-6 at a time
>ziplines don't work because even a direct route would take you 3 minutes at best, meaning a maximum of 9 minutes to get all of the cargo
>pickup is impossible because the fucking thing has no traction on snow
>can only take half of them with a bike, and even then you're looking at 4 minutes + using the magellan to warp back per trip
>can take all of them with a boost skeleton and carriers but your speed is completely fucked in snow
>can't use bokka because you're too slow baseline
>your only choices are deliver a fraction or use the magellan
>you get fucked either way
Is this the cheater trap order?
>>714742648I actually questioned the validity of "braindead" pregnant women. Pregnant ladies are some of the most taken care of human beings, how common can you actually find a braindead one? and how do they make sure the unborn baby is being incubated enough while still in the oven? Just a nitpick but my headcanon says it's actually mostly women.
>>714742249Instead of shifting abortion it would be murder. Those babies could only be created with brain death mothers. Medical science can brain dead a person.
This has nothing to do with abortion.
>>714743453*mostly alive women
>>714743463yeah that's why I said it was ritualistic baby sacrifice, not abortion.
>>714743356Nevermind, you have to go up the slopes at angles to get the pickup up the mountain and it can get there in 4.5 minutes.
>>714743453There's still a lack of information to know the full scale of the operation, BB-28 is the highest registry I think we've ever told but BB's being decommissioned after a year of use suggests it would need to be higher
The Death Stranding has been in progress for 20+ years so circumstances are plausibly fucked up enough to create more of that scenario than you'd think
>>714744047The only one sacrificed is the mother. That was the whole point of that scene. They were actively looking for pregnant women as a resource.
>>714744047None of it was ritualistic.
Do Gold Chiral Creatures respawn or not?
>>714745220How long? I killed some like an hour ago.
>>714744603I was being dramatic and creative with the wording since that is how babies are usually used in older tropes (eg human sacrifice) - but you can also view the DS schtick as ritual sacrifice for the future hyperstitional CyberHuman God and it's future in a more poetic lens.
>>714744443In a certain view yes? You functionally sacrificed any future the baby was going to have, because of your heinous involvement (this goes to the pro-life argument eventually).
