What went so wrong with Japanese electronics and game consoles?

20 years ago, companies like Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sharp, Sanyo, Casio, Hitachi, Olympus, Seiko, Sharp, NEC etc dominated the electronics industry but today they are a mere shell of what they used to be like

>refrigerators, washmachines, vacuums, batteries, and air conditioners
>Laundry machines, including washer-dryers
>lithium-ion and flash memory your phone uses were created by Japanese
>Hitachi Building Systems is the second largest manufacturer of elevators in Japan
>DSLR cameras
>LCD
>LED blue light
>fiber optic communications
>the first bullet train (Shinkansen)
>CD was created by Sony based on PCM sound source
>Video Home System (VHS), which preceded the DVD, was invented by Victor Company of Japan
>DVD
>Blu-Ray discs
>Japanese cellphone
>Nintendo
>SEGA MEGA DRIVE, SEGA SATURN, SEGA DREAMCAST
>PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3
>Capcom. SquareSoft. FromSoft, Konami, Bandai, Kojima, Shinji Mikami, Yuji Naka, Miyamoto, etc

After the economic bubble burst they never recovered and are still chasing the dream 40 years later calling it a recession. After 40 years its just business as usual i say. I think the competency crisis also hit them hard along with cucked yen

They outsourced to China and Mexico
You can see this with CRTs in particular, they were the same as the Chinese stuff with the Japanese company's brandings slapped on so people just bought the chink shit for cheaper

>grew up always believing the meme of "Japanese people have super advanced computers"
>my uncle who works at Sony says Japan already has the PS7
>grow up
>find out the average Japanese person isn't even big into computers and they still do shit like fax
For as much as people meme about Japan living in 2050 they still sure do act like it's 1990 still

>competency crisis
this is just an anecdotal knowledge, but all the young japanese I've met were pretty stupid compared to old japanese businessmen. In a sense going beyond the lack of experience and knowledge that comes with age. They lack skills, discipline.

A combination of their economic bubble bursting in the 90s and their general stubbornness/arrogance against paying attention to the outside world, which often put them in a position to either stagnate or bet on wildly wrong plays in the mid-late 2000s.

Gen 7 is incredibly emblematic of this.
>Sony Japan bet on the Cell architecture and half the RAM of the 360
>Nintendo tried to make the Wii Sports fad crowd their primary meal ticket for the whole generation and stagnated on specs, alongside some existing franchises massively stagnating (Mario of course being the most infamous example)
>Xbox 360 was the default console for most of the generation, and when it faltered, the PS3 took over largely thanks to the Americans basically taking control of PS
>Japanese third-parties overwhelmingly shat the bed this generation, because they either couldn't/wouldn't make new mainline entries in their successful Gen 5/6 franchises or they pivoted them into extremely retarded new directions that people didn't like; Dark Souls made the splash that it did despite its jank and newcomer-obtuseness because of just how badly Japan otherwise fumbled the ball

It's embarrassing just how badly Korea is mogging Japan right now.
>fanservice-y Japanese-like games that Japan almost never makes anymore (because the dumbfucks are either doubling down on western social justice just when it's falling sharply out of fashion in America, region locking games, or letting the Yakuza forbid people from lewding provocative characters and thus cutting back massively on fan engagement)
>cars (though Japan still has good trucks)
>TVs, especially OLED (Sony outright gets their OLED panels from LG)
>Korean IPs get significant promotion in Japanese advertising and media venues

To be fair, they are/were ahead in ways that actually mattered and were practical for a while. Hell, you still can't get a decent ガラ携 in the USA while even the cheapest ones from Japan are perfectly usable/suitable replacements for modern smartphone slop.

The Japanese music industry fumbled the ball with how draconian they were being with j-pop. That shit could've be where k-pop is now, huge with teenagers (admittedly 90% of them are fucking weirdos but still) across the world and a massive export of soft power and culture, but no, they'd rather lock down their YouTube presence outside the country and refuse to give their albums international releases.

To give them credit, you can't really blame them for this when everyone who still tries just gets fucked sideways by platform holders. You have to curtail Sony/Nintendo/Valve's ability to censor or block these games if you want them to come back.

To drive the point home, this Vita game rerelease got screwed by every platform it tried to release on. Nintendo, Steam, even GOG. What do you expect the Japs to do? "Make their own storefront", well, good luck not getting sabotaged by payment processors like DLSite. ZOG is waging all out war on Japan and its culture now and everyone who doesn't just fall in line gets this treatment.

Japan lived the best years for soft power. You could be the richest nation in the world and have the best tech and artists. It won't matter because that period is over.

The only groups that would benefit from soft power still are Mexicans and black people. Everyone else is just out of the equation.

Just look at how much Koreans have worked in the past decade. Yet it doesn't even matter anymore.

Japan is basically America's flash forward, which is ironic given Japan is a vassal state of America since the 1950's/post WW2.

We're already seeing the brain drain in Americans, it's just a matter of the "recession" finally being called that and the collapse of the American empire being accepted for America as China rises.

>half the RAM of the 360
Being fair to crazy Ken, it was *Epig* Games that begged MS to put in more RAM for Gears of War. If that didn't happen, it'd be 256mb like the PS3 was.

While Egypt successfully repelled the Sea Peoples' invasions, the conflicts and the broader Bronze Age collapse contributed to Egypt's decline in the following centuries.

China being the last ones standing can't be a good thing.
