Yeah idk if you've been living under a rock but that's the biggest legitimate beef with this game. If you play more than one race at a time, the first race will be 3 laps, then every following race will be

This is true for Grand Prix and Online racing. Knockout tour was designed to be a highway marathon, but Nintendo went full Nintarded and made EVERY game mode like that. The only way to get 3 laps on every track is local VS or private online rooms.

basically all the tracks are classed as road, even ones that are dirt roads or whatever. there's a couple offroad but it's usually in intermissions, and there's practically no water sections. the fastest way to water travel is to avoid it if at all possible anyway

Apparently the upcoming 2.4 update is reworking a few mechanics (mostly related to item balance) and completely overhauling the tutorial system. I've noticed this trend happening back in my Xbox 360 days. I've been on that side before too where I would rush to get good and only do the things to try winning all the time. Now I don't get enjoyment out of that anymore. I've spent a lot of time over the years building up a friend group to be able to play any game and just turn ourselves off from the rest of the internet and their discovers. It got a lot more fun for me. Hopefully more people out there discover their maximum enjoyment.

Although I will say for CCGs I'm still a sucker for those and have to play them in the first 2 weeks before everyone starts playing the same decks over and over.

CrossWorlds doesn't have the midair flipping in place of tricks being mapped to the left stick and you can just spam it a bit more.
