You do know that's why they're called Pocket Monsters, right? That was the original concept. They shrink to hide in the tall grass and grow to fight you. You can't catch them when they faint because they shrink back down and you can no longer find them. You have to put them in the ball before that happens.

Yeah, because they were put inside the pokeballs. But what everyone assumed was that the technology of the balls shrinked them or turned them into energy or data or whatever. Literally nobody thought that mons had a inherent ability to shrink, that's retarded.

Oh, so humans can shrink in the pokemon world too? Retard.
Literally nobody thought that pokemon having the innate ability to shrink was a thing, it was never part of any conversation until the shitty Legends game came out. It never happened in the anime either despite it airing for decades, every time they come across a Pokemon it's always at full size, we literally never see a Pokemon shrunk down in the wild despite you claim that they spend most of their time tiny hidden in the grass apparently

Honestly it's cuz of the show. The red light comes from the ball and covers the pokemon and then they get sucked in. It's clearly not the pokemon sucking themselves into the ball or shrinking first. The entire process is the ball doing something to the pokemon

Firstly, the only monster in any pocket here is the one between my legs
Second, it was assumed for decades that Pokemon were digitized by the Pokeballs, not that Pokemon have an innate ability to shrink.
Which makes less sense since Minimize exists as a move, but canโ€™t be learned by every Pokemon despite every Pokemon being able to shrink themselves.

Pokemon as a franchise was never designed with any sort of prequels in mind. As far as I recall, in Gen 1, Bill was the one who invented the Pokeballs (that digitized the Pokemon) and the PC storage system (that stored them digitally), while Oak invented the Pokedex, hence why (You) were tasked with filling out the latter by using the former - nothing like that was done before. The stuff PLA had is bullshit that doesn't make sense in this context - if people were studying Pokemon for more than a century and even had Pokeballs, then what the fuck was Oak doing?

Not necessarily. There's plenty of cases of mons just hanging out in the overworld before games like Let's Go, such as the fatass Snorlaxes that block the routes in RBGY. I believe that game's Safari Zone implies that they let the mons roam about, hence why they can choose to fuck off. Plus stuff like Pineco and Voltorb being casually camoflauged as normal objects hint towards that mons do just exist alongside humans, they just gonna be dicks about it.Though common sense would have at least keen you in that there are too many monsters WAY bigger than the tall grass they hide in, so something fucky about them is going on.
Arceus just made it incredibly clear the why and how of mons shrinking, that it wasn't just an odd artistic expression of mons fainting or being devoured by the grass.

Pokemon was always set in a semi-sci fi setting to begin with. When the games launched the idea of there being a PC to store pokemon in digitally, magical health incubators, teleporters etc. always made the games feel vaguely futuristic, but with a strong connection to nature.

As the series has gone on its felt more connected to the real world rather than a fantasy setting imo

>Pokemon possess the odd power to-
I dont think that necessarily means pokemon can shrink themselves at will like ant man.
Its probably a translation of the original JP script being something like
>Pokemon can be shrunk down/Pokemon sometimes change size
Etc. etc.
I mean if pokemon can train to the point where they literally morph into a brand new shape and physiology in seconds I dont think shrinking down in size under certain circumstances is that hard to believe
>Why has this supposed ability never been referenced or even alluded to since Laventon said his retarded line about it
The line was only there to address any plot concerns about "How did the tech for pokeballs exist back then"
>What the fuck is the point of Minimize
A combat technique that not every pokemon will know how to use.
Like Magnemite or Voltorb can obviously discharge electricity naturally, but not every single one of them will know how to use Thunder or Zap Cannon
