Do you know how much money they've sunk into AI? Do you know how money they continue to sink into AI? Do you know that AI is not profitable whatsoever? It's all based on the promise that in a few years, it will be much better than what it is now. And it will finally solve the billion dollar problems like curing cancer and all that. That's what they're selling to investors. It is a lie. They lied about AGI, and they're lying about this. They've hit diminishing returns with LLMs but they're going to squeeze as much out of it before the bubble pops. You saw the cyrpto bubble pop and all of these "altcoins" losing practically all of their value, with bitcoin being one of the few last standing but losing a ton of momentum in the process.
2000s we had the dotcom crash, 2007 we had the housing market bubble pop. Even recently, we had "data analysis" be the next big thing before AI took the world by storm. And it didn't go anywhere because these companies were paying exhorbitant amounts to have people "analyze data" that was supposed to give them some kind of hidden knowledge that would allow their company to function better. The people that were paying these data analysts? They never delivered, their businesses didn't make more money. They LOST a ton of money, now hardly anyone talks about that and everyone's moved on to the next con: convincing everyone they need AI, they can replace employees with AI, and that it's gonna be sooooooo much smarter in just a few more years trust the plan. It may hallucinate and spit out erroneous information regularly, it has no real use beyond generating porn, shitty poems, and shoddy code, but WE PROMISE in 5-10 years it will be smarter than a human. Let's forget just how power hungry this, building all the data centers, building POWER PLANTS to power those data centers...All so you can have a chatbot that does anything you could have accomplished with a search engine.
