You don't have to like a character for the story to still be good. The characters are just vehicles to deliver the game's themes. Plus the dinosaur still has interesting character dynamics with other characters and develops more redeeming qualities as the game progresses. I wasn't particularity thrilled with her at first neither, but over the course of the game I realized that she's perfectly okay and adds a lot to the story.
