false

You are because you buy second hand PS2 games when the .isos are readily available. Even if you want to play on real hardware, the only reason to buy an original copy is if you're bad with money, which you clearly are.

why are poorfags so stupid?

You are not *just* buying the game to play it. They are also an investment. There is high demand for these retro classics, but increasingly dwindling supply due to copies being lost/destroyed. Retro games will always hold incredible value, function, and utility, and are only going to increase in value over time,

Disc rot eventually over time will be a thing. It's ultimately just plastic and paper you're buying. it's not clear when disc rot will seriously be an issue for PS2 games, since I think they were mostly robustly produced, but it's already an issue for NGC games. Again, this is the "long term investment".

You're better off buying Konami stock for a long term investmet. Stocks won't win bakc your money for 10 years.

Gaming is only getting more and more popular each year, and as gaming gets increasingly shittier, people turn more and more to retro games, of which are in very limited supply.

Even PS3 and 360 games have skyrocketed in value lately; each passing gen makes each gen before it increasingly more valuable.

So you are not only buying a fantastic game, but a piece of history and an incredibly rare and valuable asset.

Fuck no.
And I say this as an oldass SH fanatic.
You could get a mint condition PS2 copy for 30 BUCKS before Corona.
Even if it was some "supa' rare retro classic (tm)", I would never pay over 60 bucks for an used copy of a very common, mainstream game, that has PC ports + easy emulation options.

This day and age?
Just pirate PC ports for free, and tell Konami and scalpers to go fuck themselves:

PS:
Play SH1 first. It is crucial.

Maybe if you are a collector, and even then I think that is slightly overpriced. I saw sold listings for $155, $225, and $240. Maybe wait for a cheaper listing to pop-up? It also depends on your budget. As a buyfag, I never regretted skipping a sale opportunity because the price was too high for my budget/max price.
And if all you want to do is play it and don't care about having the physical disc/etc., then maybe emulate + a controller for the PC . That may be a better experience and it will be significantly cheaper too.

Those listings included the soundtrack. If you search for Sold Listings and Completed Listings you can go through and see the actual sold prices. I grabbed whatever the latest 3 listings were. I'm sure it goes back even further. You can also get a better idea of how often it goes up for sale too.
But no pressure, and again- totally up to you, your budget, and what you can afford. I like to gather as much info. as possible before I make a decision on what I consider a big purchase.

Was so already in 2000 when the N64 RE2 port dropped, was so in 2001-2003 as no SH fan wanted to touch that shit, and was extra so back in 2004 when Konami made the scheme the only control style in SH4.

And don't get me started on the 2015 HD remaster of RE1 remake, that defaults to that janky, game-breaking feces.

Kill yourself. You can buy a copy of a game from some thrift store or some faggot off ebay or just pirate it, nobody cares where it came from. These software publishers stopped producing copies of the game, they clearly didn't care about selling it anymore, and that's all that matters.

Half the fun in SH games is the graphics and the atmosphere, the remake was really bad at both.

I have no confidence in modern Konami, all the good talent left the company long time ago and they are outsourcing to terrible developers, Bloober teamโ€™s other projects all dont look interesting at all.

Silent Hill f is not looking good either, looks like a terrible fatal frame/siren game.

Remake doesn't have hit detection, instead staged cinematic animations. From a purely technical standpoint, Silent Hill (1999) has actual hit detection, and thus has mechanically more complex melee combat. SH2 remake is actually a step backwards.

We had a good therad on this yesterday:
https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/714410259/#714428509

I'ts Unreal engine slop with assets. A total paint by numbers. Also ugly, ugly, characters with wonky body proportions. I am shocked people have such low standards and are that easily impressed.

If I'm reading right: it's canned mindliess animations that don't know what they're doing. It's effectively turn based combat. It's why SH2 REmake melee feels like a god damn chore.

The SH games on the PS2 had really great looking textures. They're so awful and disgusting but also completely believable. A construction expert could look at every frame and tell you what exactly is covering the floors and walls of the otherworld.

The remake on the other hand looks way too clean. Toluca prison looks like an ordinary modern prison with funky lights. The blue creek apartment complex just looks like an okay hotel. It doesn't help that the interiors need to be huge to compensate for the camera positioning.
