Honestly, I really like a diverse cast of characters with their cultural differences. GTA San Andreas and Half-life nailed that shit. Alyx is a masterclass on a powerful female character. She holds her own, both in story and gameplay yet has her moments where she breaks down and shows weakness. San Andreas tackles racism from different angles but with nuance and it never is preached to the player. They also introduce various races and culture into the mix which all feels contextually right.

There is not a single mainstream male protagonist is gay. At most you get a create-a-character where you can choose to be gay or it is optional and in a series that has no established canon. Henry from KCD2 is canonically straight. Yasuke from AC Shadows will never be featured in another game and thus his romance is moot.
