You can only dim it so much. I played the PS2 first level at the same time as the remaster and the difference is so big. But I hate the minor emulation issues cause I have brain damage

Don't play it then I guess you picky faggot, or play it in a window so it isn't blown up to the full resolution of your monitor. Those are all the options. I will say this though, you're better off not playing it at all than playing the demake. Some people say the demake is fine as a last resort if you have no other option, but this is wrong.

they fixed those years ago, you can tweak the settings to fix basically everything. the biggest problem with the PS2 game is the aggressive LOD which NO ONE HAS MADE A HACK TO REMOVE YET.
the full LOD models are really good but you almost never see them in gameplay.

This is also somehow an issue for people. For some reason we live in an era where faggots will unironically be filtered if a game uses the arrow keys for movement (I have seen at least 2 videos of people genuinely complaining about this). How has this become such an issue?

are you talking about the outlines?
the outline shader in the actual game is just really badly programed and made for a low resolution.

when you up the resolution the offests of the outline layer get pushed out of whack.
the spaces where the outlines are meant to be override the Zbuffer and cut out small parts of the character models. like this.
in order to get smooth outlines, go into the texture offset settings and play around with the X and Y offsets until this hole is covered, I don't have my settings here but I think there's also also an integer scaling lock you can switch.

the most importantly render the game at 4K or higher then SSAA downsample to 1080p.
this will make the outlines smooth as well as give you the best AA. you can make it even smoother with added FXAA.

Can't say I don't relate. Emulation is dogshit half the time, I spend more time fucking with the settings to fix issues before having to begrudgingly settle I'm not getting the ideal visual experience. The outlines in Klonoa 2 especially bothered me since they'd get smaller the higher the resolution, but doing it native always had everything be just a little too pixelated and blurry for my tastes. Maybe I should just invest in a CRT at this point.
