It's so weird because all they had to do was port the originals so people could experience them as they were, but instead they kept insisting on making Klonoa 1 fully 3D, and decided the art direction of Klonoa 2 could be improved, ultimately robbing both games of their charm.
I watched a video recently that pointed out it wasn't just the visuals they fucked up, but entire music cues and facial animations. Music will keep playing where it faded out temporarily in the original, and changes in the generic character model's face just aren't there, which locks a lot of Klonoa's smaller emotional moments behind him just blankly staring at things he'd at least have a mildly concerned look for. Klonoa really can't catch a break as a series man.
