I'm almost done with the free demo and damn this game is fun. I'm not gonna buy the full version cuz I don't see the point right now since it's unfinished, but mostly because of the current lack of answers regarding the story. Probably because of Flowey in some way. It's somewhat implied that Flowey left a note in Alphys' lab that pushed her over the edge and made her hide in her lab after the entire trash dump date with Papyrus. It's also heavily implied he was manipulating Papyrus throughout this too, so he might have tried to nudge Papyrus to make Undyne write a letter to Alphys so she'd be out of the lab long enough for him to slip in and drop a without her looking. People often forget he's reset so many times that he knows the whole cast in and out, so he can safely pull weird socially engineered schemes like that.

I guess the duality is there, Jevil embraces the world's reality and therefore is free of consequence, while Spamton rejects it and desperately fights to escape his fate as a darkner.
Gerson falls kind of in the middle between the two, he accepts his own fate in the prophecy, yet he prepares the ones who have an actual chance of changing it (as far as we know of, it might not be the case)
Chapter 3 is the outlier, even though I find ERAM fascinating, no character actually feels connected to the other three secret bosses in the same way

It could be both since Toby went out of his way to allow Noelle to equip 2 swords, and I think the prophecy being interpretable as both was the exact point
